Where's the strategy?
Just seems to be too easy and it's a build all ya like with no worries. It doesn't even seem as if half the content is needed for the city to function?

got a 60k pop with no trains or metro and as for the bus system, I can't be bothered as it seems a chore rather than a delight so don't bother with it.

Just doesn't feel as there is a point playing the game other than just plopping your city and watch it move.

Take a look around this forum at the many threads where people are failing with their cities, maybe your just a genius :ambition:

no, not at all. But thanks for the sarcasm..... just feels a bland game with not much effort needed to get a functioning city.

Yes, i got a few issues, but nothing that halts the growth of my city or prevents the demand in any of the sectors.

My point is being that the issues or problems in game aren't really relavent to the progression of the city its self? Comprehend?

The game is beautiful to look at, jus wish it was the same for playing....

End in all, there really isn't that much longevity about it at the moment (for me anyways) just wondering if any others are feeling the same.

(Also, take a look around this forum, or other sites and you will see many are having success with their cities).

I have played many city building games over my 20 years of being a gamer and whilst I partly agree with the OP i have to share some of my problems I had building my city.

I play on normal speed as I find slow play is best for me personally. I don't like wacking up the speed when I get $5k profit and stockpiling loads of dosh. I prefer to play at a slow pace so money comes in and I spend it as I need too. Ofcourse if you just make a small efficient city then speed through 10 years to get unlimited funds the game would be easy.

So now you know how i play these are the problems and strategy I have had to deal with already.

Traffic, joining highways was a good one to work out. 1 way roads as on and off ramps fixed that up quick enough.

Killed my entire city (HOW?) I built a hydrodam very close to where my water and waste pipes were, the water below the dam dropped as expected but what i didn't plan for was for the flow of water below it to stagnate completely and my pipes/wastage all got mixed up. I didn't spot it until it was already too late as citizens were dying left right and centre and I didn't now why lol

Keeping citizens happy seems straight forward enough, I would like that to be more challenging but maybe this part I am efficient at making sure they have what they need :)

Moral of my story I have 20 years gaming experience and a big fan of city builders and strategy in general and even I made a few mistakes and learning / adpating my building strategies based on them.

You can turn up the difficulty and there are several mods that increase building costs etc. I was a big Simcity 4 player before trying this, and if you're coming from that game to this one then it does seem easy. That said, anyone can plop down a city and earn some money in either one after a while. The challenges in these games are often the ones people set for themselves, e.g. max pop., appealing aesthetic, no gridlock, environmentally friendly, etc. Personally, I like to build cities where the economy runs on tourism (although that doesn't seem possible yet because at 80k pop I still only get 30 people a week to visit...) I liked the challenge of SC4 but I could never completely design my cities the way I wanted because things were always blowing up. In C:S, I have so much extra cash I spent 2 million redesigning a highway interchange (it's still ugly.) If you're not interested in design then try SC4, but be warned it's an old game and has a much steeper learning curve (especially if you turn on natural disasters.)

Also, keep in mind that this game is expecting many future updates where, by the state of the broken AI, things could change drastically.

I feel the same, OP....there's just no later game content that makes any difference. Add services/education in a few spots, plop down a random park or two, and that's about it. Or don't...I can't work out that it makes a whole lot of difference.
