Are you finding it difficult? I did take one loan out, but paid if off quickly and have essentially endless resources by only about 10k population. People seem happy if they have their basic needs met and valuable land, which isn't hard to create.
Do you reached 300-500k and builded every possible building?
And everyone is happy?
And you have no problems with traffic?
Ok... I guess I'll hope it gets harder eventuallly ;) I also just noticed that there is a hard mode mod available. Thanks for the tips.
Make it as large/wide as you can.
Hehehe... that's why I specifiec "non-annoying". Bascially, the same game, but just not so much money, not so easy to make the folks happy :)
I'm on 4.6k pop and I make 1 - 2k weekly. I've placed parks and enacted the parks and rec. policy but land prices are still dark blue. What do?
The money issues seem to clear up around 10k or so. I saw a game with Quill18 (think it was his second major effort) where at about 100k he had millions and wasn't even really trying to be careful (he put a metro system in for two large areas in about 60 seconds).
With a city at 80k, I had to split up my main metro stations into several stations in close proximity and move their lines because there were so many trains trying to get into one station, they got jammed.
With different industrial areas spread out, I had to make sure they were all connected with cargo rail lines as the raw resources produced in one area will get shipped to another industrial area for processing instead of at a factory next door and then those goods will get shipped to different commercial zones elsewhere.
With trucks and buses and commuters clogging up your roadways and highways, you also have all your ambulances, fire engines, police cars, garbage trucks, etc. contributing to traffic.
The game is not easy when you have a large population. One solution you put in might become a problem later or cause problems elsewhere.
