Black screen with cursor only when Broadcasting Cities: Skylines?
Friend of mine wanted to watch me play so I started Steam Broadcast. However, he said all he saw was a black screen and my mouse cursor moving about. I confirmed this when I went to watch my own broadcast.

Anyone else have this issue?

I am running the game in Borderless Windowed mode (using a launch option of -popupwindow). Not sure if that makes a difference, although I have streamed other games using Borderless Window mode; but not using a launch option, rather a native, built-in option. I'll experiment with Fullscreen and Windowed modes tomorrow and report back.

Ha yeah, Twitch is the easy solution!

I just looked at a bug thread on reddit in r/citiesskylines and someone said that if you're playing 1920x1080, the broadcast will do the black screen with cursor. But it will work properly in other resolutions. Something to try.

I guess I can confirm it's the same for 1920x1200 as well then =p

www.twitch.tv. It's a video game streaming website. The biggest one, probably. Basically anyone can stream their games on Twitch.tv or watch other people play games.

I had black screen in OBS when captured in a "game" way, then I capture only window (not an application) and it helped.

Have your friend switch his "Video Dimensions" in his "Steam> Setting > Broadcasting" menu.
Restart steam client and try again. It should work.

I did the Steam beta solution and that worked well. No problems at all.

Trying to stream the game on OBS but I don't want to use window/monitor capture. Is this an OBS problem or the game, I'm unsure. Game capture only shows the cursor and the game is streamed black screen.
Any assistance would be appreciated :)

update : I just tried to use direct x 9 instead of dx11 and it magically works now. use -force-d3d9 as launch parameter if you don't care for direct x 11!

Here is the link to the thread: http://www.reddit.com/r/CitiesSkylines/comments/2ykmzs/psa_if_you_have_issues_verify_cache/

I did this and I can now run the game through obs using game capture!

Hope this helps!!

so to this problem there is no solution. before my obs worked in monitor and window mode but now its not even seeing my desktop. this happens when you update your drives. so obs isnt made for those NEW drivers yet. it takes about month to new update to come so you have to wait that month or just downgrade your drivers
