How to attract tourists?

What are things your city needs to get tourists? I have several thousand people, lots of shopping, a passenger train station and I've only had 3 tourists who probably got lost and ended up in my city. My train staion is getting no use at all.

Somewhere on the tooltips it mentions that monuments attract tourists. Whether they are the main draw or not I can't say for sure.

i found some under unique buildings...

unique buildings and monuments give you some tourist but you wont get many which is a bit weird might be fixed in a patch.

What defines a tourist attraction? I've visited towns because of relatives living in the area, wanting a beach to visit, tours of big businesses, or just to eat some good food... they should tweak tourist stuff to not be inclusive of only tourist buildings. If my town has world famous pizza, by God, people will visit!

I've got almost all unique buildings, but my train only brings about 150 tourists a week. Have no idea how to increase this number.
