I also have a Menu problem. I can't play the game, if you find a way to fix it plaease let me know.

I'm getting a similiar issue on my Windows PC. The writing is all jumbled up and looks almost like japanese. In the main menu if I run my mouse over the items they then show up in english. Odd. I'm gonna try disabling steam overlay and see if that helps me at all.

I had too many assets/mods subscribed in steam workshop. I deleted a bunch and now the game is responding normally. I guess there actually is a hard limit to the number. I had subscribed to over 1300 of them and I guess that was too many. Unsubscribed to over a hundred or so mods and game is running as of now. Lol.

Did you get a screenshot of when it was broken? (or can you find similar screen in that troubleshooting faq?) - I'd like to put a note about too many assets as possible cause but not sure which type of garbled screen it relates to
MarkoBeef Jun 21, 2015 @ 4:01pm
Sorry I did not. I didn't see one in the faq either but the best I can describe it is broken japanese type characters that show up in the menu and also in the sidebar with the steam workshop assets. When I would roll my mouse cursor over the main menu items they would revert to the correct english. However in the options screen they would not revert to the normal text.

Reddit thread where I found the link to the Paradox forums where people were having issues with crashing on exit. This went on to discuss a finite limit to the number of assets one may be subscribed too and let to the pretty simple resolution of my problem:

Let me know If I can be of further assistance. I think in my case I had over 1300 assets/mods and got rid of about 200 of them.

@markobeef, i had/have same graphics issue; because of the same reason.

i think it works as an early warning for the error where game eventually is unable to launch.

Yes it would be nice if Paradox/Colossal Order addressed the asset limit at some point in the future. with almost 47000 assets on the workshop alone its very easy to go crazy and subscribe to entire collections of a certain type. Now that I know there is a finite limit I will be more selective of what I subscribe to in the future.

I was up to 1500 and Skylines just refused to launch. I'm down to ~1320 now and it runs fine, but the main menu glitch is in full effect.
MarkoBeef Jun 22, 2015 @ 11:08pm
Im wondering if there is a finite number. Have you tried dropping down below 1300? Or perhaps the menu issue is somehow a prelude symptom before the game wont launch at all.Hmmm.

@MarkoBeef any chance you could post a screenshot of what your menu looks like? I'll add to troubleshooting guide if it's not already covered with a note about number of assets subscribed.
MarkoBeef Jun 23, 2015 @ 11:54am
Unfortunately I did not get a screenshot. If I have time I will try and replicate the issue by oversubscribing to assets and then grabbing a screenshot of it. Since other people are getting this same issue for this same reason you might want to ask then as well. I agree with what static is reporting above. Maybe he can get you a screenshot since he is still having the issue.
