Who Compose The Soundtrack?
I'm a soundtrack guy. For me, perfect gameplay also mean a great soundtrack. Game like Sims, Sims 3, RCT, even Sonic and Knuckles brings nostalgia for me because it's soundtrack.

For city building, I tend to play nice relaxing music. In this area, Chris Tilton works for SC2013 is (near) perfect. Despite the game becomes ♥♥♥♥.

So... The end of pre-order were 2 days away, and one of Deluxe perks are soundtrack. So... who create a soundtrack for Skylines, and can you give us samples of the track?

No one knows since they haven't stated who did the soundtrack but it might be done by Paradox if I had a guess as they tend to compose their own music for their studios own games.

And a sample of tracks is the trailers for the game. The main theme is used all the time but it's a sample and not the full thing. I could find a video I know that has a good minute or more of the trailer for you to give the main theme a listen to.

For a decent amount of the games main theme:

It is known. The soundtrack was composed by Jonne Valtonen. Known for the arrangement he has made for spielemusikkonzerte.

I use the Sim City 4 OST in my games.

It's pretty great but I just listen to Simcity 2013 tracks since as you say the soundtracks in that game is perfect for this kind of game. Cities Skylines' soundtracks are uplifting and epic but not exactly relaxing I have to say. Still great tracks imo.

I do wish they'd expand on the music with dlc's.
(also, that sims track, certainly brings me back as well :) )

Cheers. Its disappointing that even after all this time they haven;t apparently tagged the MP3s with album name or composer.

Most game devs don't for some silly reason - You'd think the composers would be professional (and more importantly cordial) enough to include all of the relevant tag info. More often than not it's not in the soundtrack DLC you can purchase either, which is just downright sad.

I totally agree with you SantaMan(sen), it surprises me that they care so little about it particularly when its a sold item. I can understand the composers might not be involved by that stage (they might master and provide it in WAV format) but someone along the chain to release should care.

IIRC A similar thing with the Pillars of Eternity OST at first though they fixed that up fairly quickly. The generally great thing about getting game soundtracks with Humble Bundles is they tend to always be properly tagged!

Steve Reich is the composer you are looking for.
They never stated who it really was, but it sounds unmistakeably like John Adams.
If you like C:S's soundtrack, you'll love some of his work. Here are some of my favourites:

Common tones in simple time: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hH2yfw-UkI0
Short Ride in a Fast Machine: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6kEfk6nK-vg
Grand Pianola Music: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n9nf5ShnRfk

The resemblance is uncanny!! :D

So like i watched sips_ play city skylines for a while and I even got the game to play myself, There is this piano song that i remember hearing. And I just started watching Neo Tokyo which is an older animation comprised of three seperate animations made by three different animators. And i swear I am going insane but I think one of the piano songs is from Neo tokyo. But I have yet to proof. I am watching neo tokyo here https://www.fantasyanime.com/anime/neo-tokyo-dub And it is literally the first song.
