Whats with all the Streamers on Twitch playing the game now while we wait
i mean any one can stream a game now a days and really i get into it too but whats with all these ppl on twitch streaming the game while we pre order the deluxe version and have to wait by the time this game is released not only will the hype die down but so will the stream attention that goes along with it

so what gives here what type of market strat is this when you got ppl streaming each day killing the intense hype of this game not to mention the potential ppl who wanna premote the game as well how are they going to compeate with the ppl who have been streaming the crap out this game alrdy

but then again it may or may not kill it but i can see this game become SimCity when it comes to streaming cause if you look at that game it hardly gets any views

I-I'm a streamer too, please give me the alpha, dear devs.

lol exactly, i have a youtube/twitch account i will "Stream" for everyone!

If you got <20 viewers, Its not gonna do much economically for Paradox.

I can pull off 30-50k/views on youtube. But no dev wants to hand out games. Because it doesnt serve them major sales as only a very small percentage will buy based on a video.

This is a patently and provably false . Pre-order has been up for almost a month now. Youtube and Twitch for less than a week. Guess when it jumped to the top of sales here and elsewhere?

well either way since the release of this game and all the hype and streaming phaze ended and it now sucks no one hardly watches any more i didnt like the overall giveaway or beta release to streamers cause it just killed any possible way for any new streamer to enjoy and premote the game hardly any one streams this game or even yet get more then 1000 viewers ppl said before that this game will not see a die down in viewership and that it will always be streaming with tons of ppl watching

well where they at tho lol

@OP

you obviously fail to understand how marketing works.

why would they want to give codes away for someone who has barely any viewer, when they can give away codes to people like CleaveTV, WolfsGoRawr and many many others, who not only have tausends of views, but also stream a LOT of hours?

plus: the codes aren't given out randomly either, a streamer must contact the publisher and ask for a code, then the publisher checks if that streamer "is worth it" and if so: gives out the code.

and getting "famous" on twitch does not work with pre-releases. it's the other way around. you get pre-releases once you're famous.
if you didn't realize this or don't understand this, then you fail at being a pro-streamer. stick to casual streaming (which is what i do)

I'm sorry, but what exactly does any of this have to do with Cities Skylines? Are you in the right forum?

The OP wanted to make money from streaming this game prerelease...but they wanted the game to be streamed and recorded by people that were well known to get some marketing from it. OP didn't like that.

lol yeah its all about the money damn your minds are worse then the streamers who pay for views

nah what the whole point was that ppl who never streamed in a day of their life posted up that they would get into doing so once the game was released but weeks before release the game had thousands of viewers tuning in by then release date its like where the oppertunity for those who wanted to get their foot in the door to streaming cause once the game came out every one got bored of watching on to something new and those who bought and pre ordered were lucky to even get a few viewers in lol

yall is stupid for thinking that its all about money

strict was even the worst one for assuming that i would make it about the money

tis more of the oppertunity to those who wanted to get into streaming cause its us old school gamers that took this Esports to the next lvl

remember that kiddies...

posted up to who? to the 3 viewers they actually had? who cares?

then you should have chosen a different game to get into streaming. problem solved.

it's obvious that you have no clue about how marketing, e-sports or twitch works... so just stick to casual streaming and stop whining.

Actually at least when it comes to youtube I have seen people go from like 30 views per video to not having 100k+ which was all because they were one of the first who started doing gameplay videos.
If these games had been offered early to the big youtubers/streamers, then these youtubers would not have been big today even if they had the skills.

One perfect example was space engineers. Saw so many new youtubers turn into big streamers because the game was so unknown that no one of the big youtubers had started playing it.
Getting big on youtube and twitch is not just about skills, but also about being there at the right time with the right game.
Even I who only did some few random videos with no commentary and little to no editing got like 30k views just because I upped space engineers videos before the big youtubers.

But once you have big youtubers doing this games you are really ouf of luck if you are a smaller youtuber since the videos will be pretty much hidden from search results. When I started upping SE videos even my videos showed up on the first pages.
I understand the marketing side, but there are also alot of negative side effects from handing out early copies.

name ONE streamer that had 30 views, got an early access and went ♥♥♥♥ crazy famous. i call BS

streamer don't get "famous" for hosting specific (pre-release) games, they get "famous" because they are good hosts and entertainers. because they knew how to build and MAINTAIN a good viewer/chat community

nothing to do with pre-release games.

http://www.twitch.tv/directory/all

look at the top channels. hearthstone, counterstrike, LoL

you really think people like ellohime, cohhcarnage, ezekiel3 or any of the great twitchers need pre-release games? they get 20K viewers for playing TETRIS if they want

One perfect example was space engineers. Saw so many new youtubers turn into big streamers because the game was so unknown that no one of the big youtubers had started playing it.
name ONE

WRONG
yes, you can get some extra viewers if you have something exclusive. but without skill those viewers will leave right away
Even I who only did some few random videos with no commentary and little to no editing got like 30k views just because I upped space engineers videos before the big youtubers.
30K views on youtube is NOTHING as those videos are static and will keep getting views over time. try getting 30K views on a live twitch.

But once you have big youtubers doing this games you are really ouf of luck if you are a smaller youtuber since the videos will be pretty much hidden from search results. When I started upping SE videos even my videos showed up on the first pages.

if your only way to get "famous" is through early access, then you're doing it wrong. end of story really.
if you don't have charisma or playing skill good enough to people want to watch you, then just admit that you suck and stick to doing something else.

So this isn't about money according to the guy...then why do you want more viewers? It's not so you can get payed for doing it and not have to do a normal job?

And btw...did you seriously bring up E-sport in a thread where you're pissed about a city building game didn't giving you early access?

"tis more of the oppertunity to those who wanted to get into streaming cause its us old school gamers that took this Esports to the next lvl "

Pretty sure I've been a "gamer" longer then you have as well, not that it matters.

life isnt fair is a pretty valid comment, what doesnt help is the fact both youtube and twitch will favour the famous people in searches, so someone new is up against it.

I have watched various videos on youtube from people with millions of subs and the content was complete rubbish, no talent etc. but they probably got their timing right, alot is about timing.

Also the few who seem to grow fast seem to be rich people which makes me suspect they have help from a marketing company which may have affiliation with other channels as well.

What frustrates me is aside from getting pre release products, these people dont pay for the products. Which effgectively puts them in the pocket of the company using them for advertising. Its a closed loop and not a good one. But as said before, life isnt fair.

So for someone new, who doesnt have the right contacts, the best chance is getting lucky with timing on certain content that established channels miss. So you not pushed out of search results.

The worst gane I ever seen for this was hearthstone, wow that peaked way too early, was dieing down big time before beta was over.

Right now I am watching a stream of a game I previously never heard off, meaning this way of marketing does work (sadly), the streamer is acting all hyper and loves the game, but of course I have no idea if she got the game free and as such may just be pretending (game is released), who knows, but still watching a streamer play beats buying the game blind. At least get to see game footage, I used to use youtube for footage bu so much of it gets taken down these days.

It's giving out the game early to a few people in exchange for more advertising that benefits both the game developers and the streamer / YouTuber. Game devs lose nothing here as so many will be watching the video / stream and be like "this looks awesome! *purchases*".

Also, don't grave dig threads please.
