Exclusive fullscreen mode (G-sync/DSR) *Solution found*
Is it possible to run this game in true exclusive fullscreen or does it only run in borderless window fullscreen?

Edit:
I found a solution to this problem. Launching the game with "-force-d3d9" will allow for exclusive fullscreen mode. G-sync and DSR will work with this setting.

I am pretty sure that screen is it. When doing Screen shots, the borders are not there. *shrugs*
Screenshots would look the same in either mode so that doesn't really help answer the question, but thank you for responding.
does it matter?
Yes, it's required for certain features such as Freesync/G-sync and DSR (and in some cases gives a small preformance boost.) I'm just curious as I have noticed a lot of recent releases seems to be missing this basic feature. I will probably still buy it cause it's seems like an awesome game.

This is surprising to me as I have had the exact opposite feeling. Every game insists on starting up in fullscreen mode to begin with.

unity is rly bothersome when it comes to fullscreen borderless its usualy only fullscreen or windowed
So does the game have fullscreen or no? Yes it matters.

i expect so because unity supports it well and i dont see a reason why they would remove it
The question isn't about if it has fullscreen or not. It would be silly if it didn't have fullscreen. Many new games (Unity games?) only come with "borderless window fullscreen" which technically isn't fullscreen. It's only a window that covers the full screen.

This can be tested by alt+tabing to another program like for example the calculator, if the calculator shows up in front of the game it's running borderless window fullscreen. If the game gets minimized instead it's running exclusive fullscreen.

Now why does this matter? It's not a big deal for most people in most cases. But if you own a G-sync/Freesync-monitor or want to use DSR it's a small annoyance that you can't use those features. That's all really.

Does forcing the game to use direct x 9 instead of 10/11 remove any of the games graphical features?
I don't know. I haven't noticed anything so far. I don't think it's likely that this game uses any DirectX 10/11 features.
Brilliant, thankyou Bylund - what a difference at 4k DSR
cant run game at 4k..is this the reason?

Yes, its because its windowed fullscreen unless you use the fix found by Bylund
