Should I buy city skylines 1 or 2
I've always wanted to play a game like simcity but more in depth, this game seems to be what I was looking for but I can't decide if I should should get the first one or the second one.

If you're talking about buying RIGHT NOW, I would choose 1 over 2. Wait until the performance issues are worked out for 2. Also, the gameplay is pretty different, maybe not for the better. The first game is in no way outdated and there is plenty of DLC to keep you entertained. I wouldn't, however, recommend buying the base game and ALL DLC at once. You will be way too overwhelmed. Start with the base game and slowly add in the DLCs that interest you. The only one I regret getting is the Airport one. It allows you to build an airport piece by piece as opposed to having a small or international airport as one building in the base game.

buy cities 1, more mods, DLC that goes for cheap on sale, more content, and it runs better

Should I get the deluxe edition of city skylines or the base game?

Base game, as the Deluxe provides only additional real world landmarks and music. There are equivalent landmarks in the Workshop.

Then if you like it, branch off to other expansion DLCs.

Avoid content packs and radio packs as it is easy to get equivalent assets from the Workshop and music from elsewhere, unless you look them up and happen to really like the content they add.

Neither. If you are looking for a game. Look somewhere else. CS1 and 2 are simulators they are not games. Strictly plug and play. Start the simulation. Follow the rules. Program or computer craps out. Start over. Start the simulation. Don't Follow the rules. Program or computer craps out. Start over.

CS1 for sure. CS2 is not worth it until mods and asset editor are here. Mods are what made CS1 great.

It's a simulation game....

Yeah me too I would suggest Cities:Skylines first. It is established and has some goodies to play with. As for them "crapping out" I have only had that issue with other people's cities in which were in need of repair from me or others. I have been playing since 2015 and never have my cities "crapped out" I even have a city I play mainly that I started way back in March of 2015 and it is still going strong during the endless renovation it is going through. The game is stable. It is the mixing of mod or some of the mods that cause many of the issues we see in here(in the forum).
Oh, and I can not speak to the stability of Cities:2 for I don't have that game.

1!

Neither.
2 lacks many important basic functions like mods.
1 lacks any sensibility to how traffic works. 99% of the "game" is just managing traffic jams everywhere, even when you only have 10,000 people in your city. Trains don't work right. Buses do stupid things. And for the love of God if you do buy 1, don't spend a dime on any on of the DLC. Any of what that is, you can download a free player mod that does it better.
