Highway Traffic Using Roundabout Instead of Intersection
Highway traffic entering my city is using a roundabout to join another motorway instead of using the proper highway intersection. This is causing congestion at the roundabout, even though there is a direct connection available via the interchange.

Here is a video showing the issue: https://www.loom.com/share/037d0678ffa645bbad8983a64a100dca?sid=23c0eb74-08a9-4585-bca3-7017ade7af36

I am using a Traffic Mod, so AI behaviour might be affected, but I am not sure what is causing this or how to fix it.

Has anyone encountered this before? Any advice on how to force traffic to use the intended highway connection instead of diverting through the roundabout? The slip-road on the intersection is obviously a shorter route, so what is making them choose the roundabout instead?

Thanks

In your highway interchange design there is no way for traffic wanting to change highways to do so other than using the roundabout.[ Edit: I am incorrect in this first sentence].
If you would consider sharing your city I would not mind repairing this for you. If not understand you missing exchange roads between the two highways.

Before you do that, inspect the clover-leaf ramps themselves I do not think they are working properly.
You are forcing your "northbound" cloverleaf traffic to make a U-turn if they take the ramp. They can't go "east" because your lanes rules forces them to go back "southbound" on the top overpass. Look at the painted arrows and follow the flow in each direction to make sure every direction is possible for the vehicles.

Just use TM:PE to correct north bound lane changes under the overpass.

That was it! Thank you for spotting this :)
You are welcomed :) I like to analyse traffic flow in my games and one trick I can tell is when you build a highway interchange you must pretend to drive it in your imagination and see if it works for all directions! This is a very good way to see if something is missing.
