old saves taking up space
Hi guys, I just lost my city that I have been working on for months and I am pretty upset. I noticed I have some old save games in the content manager. Do those games take up memory and space because I think I am out of RAM. If I delete those saves that I really don't need, then can I win some RAM back?

They do not take up memory, as far as I know, just disk space., when the game is running. As far as how far back you want to save old save games, that is all dependent on you and how many you really want to keep.

Unused spaces do not use volatile memory - RAM or page file - and even if they did, this games' saves are not very large, so in contrast to the game itself, and even more with assets and mods, they would barely increase RAM.

Rough minimum memory requirements:

8GB RAM: Base game
12GB RAM: Base game + 100 assets, 1-2 DLC's
16GB RAM: Base game + 500 assets, 5-10 DLC's
32GB RAM: Base game + 2000 assets, 15 DLC's
64GB RAM: Base game + 4000 assets, All DLC's

Make sure you have enough disk drive space to run your page file, and if required, manually set minimum and maximum page file amounts instead of letting the OS choose automatically.

Maybe this might help?

I'm not sure if this will help, but it is useful at times.

They don't take up much memory, not enough to worry about. I keep all of mine 'just in case' then I uncheck them in the content manager so they don't show up in my save games list.

I have over a 1,000 saves on my backup. Most are only several MB in size. nothing too large.

I just looked at 2019 folder and almost 400 saves and almost 4GB. Some saves were over 50MB most were under 10MB.
