Lets be honest: this game makes you hate SimCity 2013, right?
Let us be honest that SimCity 2013 was pitiful at best, and that this game makes you realize how much EA were asshats in incorporating that DRM, right?

Right? :)

Not really. Simcity 2013 had some really cool ideas, I even enjoyed the multiple cities linking together although I thought SC4 did it better.

I enjoyed the larger projects you could make and the ploppables was genius. I was one of the few though that didn't really have an issue with the game in general. I think if they properly supported it then it could possibly have been ok at this stage, having had an expansion or two to get there that is.

Skylines is definitely a better game though and if anything it reminds me of Cities XL rather than SC2013.

Againt Cities XL had cool ideas what with the huge buildings and mmo trading, again it wasn't fully or properly supported and didn't really kick off in a way that it needed to. Taken over by focus home interactive it was turned into an even bigger shambles.

My only gripe with Skylines so far is the farms are ridiculous and I can't get the aesthetic for them right without getting some mod that includes a park that looks like a farm, you end up paying more to make it look like a farm than you get from the farm making money so its a waste of time.

Skylines didnt kill SC'13, It was dead before Cities was released.. EA killed SC.. And then shuttered Maxis because it was a colossal failure.. Although, I think SC does have a few nice things.. I do like the upgradable Services liek fire, police, hospitals.. I thought that was cool.. And i did like thew Large industrial complexes.. Other than that, i cant think of anything i really liked about it... Build put an entire cities in a few hours?? WTF... Hell, SC: Societies has more depth and character than SC'13.... Just add Multiplayer to Simtown and then you have SC'13..... SC4 though... Now i DO wish Skylines woudl take a few clues from that one.. ahem, BRIDGES!!!..... Anyhow.. Skylines may not have killed SC, Skylines is just p.i.ssing on SC's grave... Wanna hear a funny story?
For long time i refused to buy SC'13.. Until i found it new & sealed at my local goodwill for 3$ even had the COT expansion taped to it... Anyhow.. Tried it out it.. I couldnt believe how they destroyed the game so i called the tech support to ask why i cant even make my own maps or add highways... The SC/EA tech that i communicated with asked me if i was trying to make SC more like Cities Skylines.. Huh? I never heard of Cities: Skylines.. He just said oh you want to make maps and highways like you can in the game Cities: Skylines.. I dunno, i'll have to check it out. Anyhow. point being.. I learned about Skylines from SC tech support...lol How's that for a kick in the SC pants....

The only thing i like about sim city 13 is their culture and gambling specialization. Their sims interaction is also pretty neat.

never played SimCity 2013, so can't hate it
Thread author needs a bit of attention, I guess, seeing as we must have discussed this exact point a million times before and since the release of Cities Skylines.
My answer: No, Cities Skylines didn't make me hate SC2013, so no, you are not right.

SC2013 made me hate SC2013.

Every game has it's pro's and cons, sadly 2013 had more cons... But still there is some good stuff in there.

Simcity 2013 would be simply the best city builder if it had bigger maps. The game allowed to use specializations, that changed each city significantly. It also was more challenging and had catastrophes like tornados, earthquakes, alien invasions, zombies etc. (at least something unexpected happened once in a while). Cities: Skylines has two advantages - bigger maps and nice water physics, but it becomes boring very quickly, because all you do is building more houses, more shops and factories/offices. Of course the game basically has no boundaries, the gamer controls everything within the game. But there is almost no economy, because as long as you build something, you'll always have money. You cannot build a specific factory and export stuff, you can't build casinos to earn money and even after the expantion pack will get released you won't have any use of them, because they will simply attract every single citizen and won't allow to build up the economy on it. The game is basically the same, but better optimized Cities XL with the look of Simcity 2013.
