I have 2 computers, a PC and laptop. Often I'll play on the PC, but sometimes it becomes cold down here in the winter and I resort to my laptop, despite it having worse performance. Its nice to play on your laptop in bed, or am I stupid?

To the Point, when saving on the PC, the savegame is stored to the cloud. But when I open the game on the laptop, the save isn't there yet. I don't know how to force download a save from the cloud or how to sync with the cloud.

Another note, my downloads is restricted during the night when my internet is free and thus can update games without any cost for data. I've seen the game uploaded to the cloud, but not download the files from the cloud.

Kk I'll go with suggestions, as all that comes back from memories when I tried to deal with Europa Universalis saves...
From what I reacall the *cloud save* is not only stored to steamcloud... it has a local save on your computer and the steamcloud only compares the 2 datas, but your game does not need to DL the datas if they are identical (I think, but I'm not a pro... so I may get thet totally wrong...)

So you have your local regular saves that are located using this path
Users>Username>AppData>Local>Colossal Order>Cities_Skylines>Saves

And then you can find your cloud saves on the HDD on which you installed Steam
HDD>the folder in which Steam is (usually Program Files (x86)>Steam>Userdata>the lonely folder with a number (may differ from mine, so better not to drop mine)> 255710 (should be the number for C:S game)>remote (if by any lack of luck, you don't have the same folder number for C:S (again me not a pro), just open any of them until you locate the names of your saves...)

So maybe (and again I'm not sure) copy your cloud save from your main PC, place it at same place (using the correct path where your steam is installed on your laptop).

I would think that this would cause exactly the suggested behavior that it compares your local save to the cloud one, and if you happen to play your city on the laptop here and there ceating a difference on the cloud save, and then when you get back to your PC as the save is older hopefully updating it from the more advanced save on the cloud.

READ CAREFULLY : honnestly I never tried it... so better test it with a city you don't care, that you have invested a very limited time on it... but may worth the try if you can't access more naturally your cloudsave (which honnestly should be much simplier, but again I never tried to do what you try to do...)

Well, Train Fever saves works the same. I had to access the steamuser folder to retrieve the saves, because these saves are not being uploaded to steams servers. I usually copy them to OneDrive (Skydrive) and then I can get it on my laptop.

But it is cumbersome to run around between windows to copy/paste stuff. Anyway, I found out the game will not download a save file if its not correctly being uploaded. But the upload cannot be verified if its been correctly uploaded or not. I had to do a few changes to the city and retry uploading before the game downloaded the file on the laptop.

At least I know the game will download the save without being stopped by Steam if I checked the downloads no to download between certain times of the day to save data.

Well then and why not simply drop a local save as you do anyway to OneDrive, and use only that one back on local saves on the other end ?

I still totally agree that once you have a cloud save linked to a steam account, all should be easyer, but doing so still give you lots of freedom, should you even bring your laptop somewhere else and wanted to play anyway ;-)
