Vanilla Airport - UGH
Ok, what am i doing wrong? I have no passengers and the vehicles/people that go to the airport area do not go to the airport. The only things there is parking and airport.

I've placed an airport before in another city build with no issue. But, this was a couple years ago when you didn't have to lay out the route. So I decided to ask here before I go crazy. Screenshots added to give you a better idea of what I'm working with.

Yes - Vehicles have access to the airport
Yes - I have a metro station set up
Yes - I have parking
Yes - I placed a route

And it's on FULL SPEED (3 arrows).

Other than the route, I can't think of anything else I could do to make it work.

The route I placed is the squiggly line between the top and bottom. I tried to get it to flow nicer into the existing route(s) but this is the best I could do.

HELP????

How long did you let the game run after placing all this?

It is my understanding that airplanes arrive not in a rappid succession like intercity trains do

once I made sure metro and roads were connected and everything had electricity and water, I unpaused the game and let it run about 10 minutes or so before I started wondering. I'd say maybe a total of about 20 minutes or so since I unpaused. Still the same

You may not have enough people... my air ports don't usually produce much traffic until the population gets to about 250k or so. As a rule it's better to wait until you see plains flying over the city before you build an airport.

I'm at 66k+ population. And I have seen planes fly over. Not a ton, but I do see them here and there. I did go ahead and purchase the Airport DLC since it was discounted. But that makes it even more difficult for me cuz I don't know how any of that works yet. LOL

Sounds good . I'm sorry but I can not help you with the DLC. I've heard it was still broke but couldn't say for sure as I found no need to pick it up. Nothing I couldn't do straight out of workshop. Which brings up another option. Have you tried building the vanilla generic airport to see if that works? Or you might try simply moving the DLC airport to a different location.

I find placing airports in tourist districts work best. having them far away isn't the best logistics to get tourists flowing through your city.

66k pop isn't that much either. Don't airports unlock around 60k?

Also, you should have mainly level 3 jobs and level 5 residential to help support the tourists as well. A good foundation of a mature city will be advantageous.

But a good and mature tourist trap district should pay off.

I think maybe you are just building too fast and not letting your cims mature enough. Try playing at x3 speed and take your time. Get your district to level up 75% to max levels. Click on lower level buildings and see what they want to get them to level up.

In the "Info Views", there is a icon in the shape of a circle with a star inside of it. This is a very good menu to study to get your buildings to their max level per district.

I'll give that a try

omg! FINALLY! It's working now!

I did check my buildings and whatnot. Everything I have (at least business/houses) are at max level. Land value is super high everywhere as well.

I deleted all my airport stuff and re-placed the vanilla airport and nothing else.
I reconfigured my metro route to have stops in each town, the passenger boat, the main bus hub, a few stops in my tourist area, and back around.

I am NOW getting passengers and planes!

Now that I have a functional airport, I'll start playing around with my airport DLC and see if I can make it more attractive.

THANKS for the help!

It's nice to see you figured it out on your own. It's so much more rewarding.

Just apply the same methodology to airport dlc stuff and you should be good to go.
