Help with Buses and Bus lines
When creating a New Bus Line, the network pathfinding insists on using specific roads other than the road with bus lanes on them. My buses also dont even follow the line, and instead are making right turns followed by left turns the next road down.

TM:PE messes up things with buses quite badly just by enabling it. Without, buses go over junction along the bus lane normally, but with TM:PE just enabled, they stop doing that and instead change over the middle or innermost lane. And after junction come back to bus lane again. No restrictions or anything applied, just mod enable / disable. And with "buses can ignore lane arrows" on.

There are a number of factors that can cause this:

- When creating busroutes, the shortest possible path between stops is created. If you want this path to go somewhere else you'll need to create a busstop in between.
- If you use TM:PE and have applied 'lane connections', then buses cannot ignore those.
- By default buses cannot ignore lane arrows too. But there's an option in TM:PE that allows them to ignore lane arrows.
- Busstops are always on the right side of the road. If you place a busstop in a location where there's no more room for the bus to change lanes in order to go into a certain direction (like right in front of an intersection, where you want the bus to make a left turn for example) then the bus will follow a diferent path.

It's hard to tell what exactly is preventing you from creating the busline the way you want it to. Best is to provide us with some screenshots of the busroute, and a description on how you want it to go instead.

Thanks for the response. Give me a minute here to figure out how to post screenshots

Ok, so here I have my road layout; 3 roads East-West. The bottom road has dedicated bus lanes.

Here, we can see the Bus Line overview, yet we can also see the literal buses choosing to use other roads

I do have TM:PE, but there are no forced turns anywhere. There is this little squiggle in the bus line ive noticed that seems like it forces the bus into the middle (non-bus) lane.

A wider view. You can see that despite having the Bus Line go straight, my buses choos to make a turn off the route only to turn right back onto it. I just want them to go straight and make 4 turns in a big circle, so i tried to make them a road off my main arterial

Use TMPE mod to block buses from turning down those streets.

When you create a new line, buses won't follow a line to get to the start of their shift (first stop), they don't have to. They'll also leave the line to return to a depot at the end of their shift. Buses will also break from the line to avoid disruptions like a fire, and then attempt to return to the stop, but I gather that is not happening here.

Give it some time to ramp up after creating new lines and see if the problem remains.

This has gotta be the answer. That explains the behavior very well. Thanks everyone for replying
