Building radius?
Has anyone made a guide on what the radius of the service buildings are? I'm seeing a lot of mods I like, but some of them don't mention what the radius of their effects are, and some do. Those that do, I would like to be able to just look at a guide and find out how it compares to what's already in the game. It gets annoying having to subscribe, then load up the game and check, then log out and go back if the radius is smaller than what I currently have.

it's not merely by radius. it depend on the road connectivity, and the road quality

whenever u gonna place the building, u can see building subject to its service shown in various color level indicating it's effectiveness over it, like green being the best

if the road is cheap = slow, the radius is small
if u upgrade it to the best, 6 lanes, u can see it's radius reach further

The green you see when placing a service building shows the happiness range, not the service range.
The service range = unlimited for services with vehicles (they will drive to the other side of the map)

Services that get visited work differently. They REQUIRE workers (they have to be able to reach them), but Cims will teleport the rest of the way, if the route takes too long (or unreachable).

when i placing a fire station, the green indicating happiness?
so further away is less happy, why? since service can still reach them regardless of distance as long as is connected?

Exactly
They need to be able to get to the fire, before the house burns down.
That is all.

I know how all that works. Some mods can cover larger areas though. Say if a stock utility covers 1000, and due to your road set up it reduces it's effective area by 1/4, it would cover 750. How ever if you have a mod that can cover 1200, then on the same roads it would cover 900 (hypothetical/example numbers here).

I know that the roads will determine how close you can get to maximum coverage of a building. I still want to know what the max coverage is, so if I find a mod that has a coverage stat listed, I can compare the two, and know if the building is worth getting. I want buildings that can either cover the same amount, or more. I feel as though it's pointless to get a mod that covers less area, but I can't tell if it does or not, because I don't know what the coverage of the buildings I currently have are. Not unless I get a mod, load up the game and check it out. If it doesn't give me the coverage i need, I then have to leave the game again, and go searching only to do it all over again.

I figure this will be the only way to do it for a good while, but I'd figure I'd ask.

Are you sure this is right?

AFAIK all service buildings try to service the entire city on all tiles. However only nearby buildings have their happiness/value increased based on the buildings "radius"

Or is that what your interested in knowing, what's the Happiness/Land Value radius.

Anyway, I think the load to asset editor may be the only way unless the Asset Uploader details it in the workshop.

So OP, something like this ???
http://www.skylineswiki.com/Decoration

Hopefully you'll find a bit more infos on services like police hospital and such on the same site... not sure though, and as it was mentioned, as they can reach way farther than the green roads...

For parks the entertainement radius is the surface the faint circle display before you actually place your park... but you could very well find an asset that has a larger entertainement radius and a far lower entertainement accumulation... so be sure of what you look for...

I didn't know that the service radius, and happiness radius are different. I thought that where the green ends, is where the service ends. Either way, I'm looking for the area that it effects happiness.

That link you gave me will help out some BonPadre. If nothing else, I can learn a little bit more. It will definitely help me in finding new parks that are worth having.

:rfacepalm:

There is NO service radius. Only a theoretical service radius.
If it takes 2 weeks to reach the other end of the map, the trucks/ambulances/firetrucks/policecars will drive for 2 weeks.
(How far a service vehicle can reach depends on the vehicle speed and the allowed speed for the road that is being driven on. So if your city has only gravelroads, your services will take forever.
If you use 1-way 6 lane (largest road with ability to build) it will be quickest).
But master Yoda keeps telling: "A service radius, there is none..."

There is only a happiness radius...
