You put it somewhere central, and connect existing bus routes to it, so they can link up to each other easily. Think of it as a Grand Central for buses.
Because...
... A bus stop is on the road itself, blocking off traffic. A bus station can support up to ten simultanous bus routes that can drop off and pick up passengers on the lot.
... a bus depot doesn't have anything to do with bus routes, only spawning buses.
Point A I get, makes sense.
If I remember correctly though can't you use the bus depot as a drop off point in a bus route? Or am I thinking Cities In Motion.
Obviously im doing it wrong then. I usually place them in the middle of shopping centers.
That isn't always the case in real life though - I live in a regional capital with around 100k inhabitants. Our big "hub" for buses and trains both have depot facilities on site.
But those are mostly for refueling and a wash - They have larger depots outside of the city for repairs, or longterm storage.
Same here, I live in south wales and in the Capitol (around 400,000 people) the bus station is also the bus depot, as it is also the train station but thats another matter.
Necroposting - Don't it.
