Sun rises in the West and sets in the East?
When I created my city in the Map Editor, I assumed North was up and so on. Now that after dark has released, the sun rises in what I assumed was the West, and sets in the East. Is there any way to rotate the map without destroying everything?

A solution to rotate the map lies in the Heightmap: 1) in the map editor export a height map file (.png) of your map you want to rotate. 2) use Photoshop or any other image editing software to rotate your png image file 180 degrees (or 90 or 270). Save the rotated image file as a .png again. 3) In C:S map editor import the height map png file you just rotated before and voilá.

While editing in image software remember to not change the colors, keep it in gray shades.

good luck OP
It's rather easy to do. Gimp is free, if you don't have PS, and while it might be complicated for advanced features, all you need is rotate the map and save it, which is really basic.
You might even be able to do so in paint.

gimp would be excellent for such a task. And it's freeeeeeee!
Irfanview can do that, is free, and isn't so complex.

It would actually be pretty sweet to have your city on the north pole right now. Even neater if you could get rid of the axis tilt. Sunsets from every angle all the time!!
It's that easy with the Time Warp Mod: First put the Latitute Slider to 80 (So your city ist like far in the arctic region and this helps to see the sun move on the next step...) Then put the time slider to sunset at around 20.30 (Honestly it wouldn't set anymore in summer time) Now with the Longitude Slider you can move the sun around the horizon to the exact point where you want it to set. After that you can reajust the Latitude to maybe your hometown position or whatever you want it to be (More in the north/south hemisphere or more equatorial region). Sunrise will be 180° opposite direction more or less.

So much insanity. The game does not include any compass points. North is where you want it to be. Who says north is at the "top"? Convention? Its all a human construct, just like national borders- they don't exist. The earth does not have a top or a bottom, it spins (or wobbles about) in space which has no top or bottom- down is up and up is down. On early maps Jerusalem was in the centre- everything revolved around the orient- hence orientation. Does it really matter where the sun rises or sets? Its only a game!

Tried it and it works as described - thank you Basquale for actually being helpful!

+1 for you!

West side is the best.
I'm in agreement that it would be nice to be able to adjust the cardinal directions of the map within a game, in terms of the trajectory of the sun. That way, a map could have north pointed one way for one city and a different way for another one. Maybe a way to rotate the day/night cycle dial...
I really like the game, overall. But, let's face it, AD is kind of a train wreck, isn't it? I mean, it's not the worst DLC to ever land on my computer. But, I'm sure we all expected more attention to detail and playtesting.
Resurrecting an old thread, I know, but the new Theme Editor has a setting to adjust the longitude and latitude, which definitely affects the position of the sun. There's no indicator of what the numbers are, but you can tweak the sun's position on the map with longitude, and adjust the height of noon sun with latitude. This also affects the length of night time.
