Cities skyline for rome, greek and egypt please
Hello all

its been a long long time that we had a city building game on a roman theme, greek theme and egyptian theme.. ceaser 4 has been long time now, immortal cities again long time, zeus again long time..

what the devs of cities skyline has produced is a masterpiece to look at and with the huge amount of sales they have received its quite obvious that a massive fan base exist for the city building genre.

I really hope that in times to come you (the devs) can also have some focus shifted to roman, greek and egyptian theme building games. you have the capability which is obvious from cities skyline so i hope that in coming times you look at those themes as well (DLCs or new games)

Wouldn't hold my breath. But there's a fairly new city builder (In the same vein as the impressions series) called Lethis, which is themed around steampunk.

ya i did see it as well...

thing is that the gap from tilted mills games is sooo long now that i dont think they are going to make anything.. and with no other developer focusing on city building games as well..

cities skyline's devs has showed they can make something beautiful so maybe in the future they can make something on the lines of greek, roman or egyptian themes

We can only hope the Tycoon genre is picked up more - There are still a few game devs making them though. Tropico, Simcity, Skylines, Lethis, various 4X titles (which aren't true city builders I admit)

yup.. but they all are focusing on the current time frames.... need at least some to focus on older times

Steam has a game called Imperium Romanum that seems a bit of an update on The old Sierra Caesar series. It's NOT as detailed as city Skylines but you might want to check it out.

Same folks who make the Tropico series - Suffice to say they've learned a LOT since then. Romanum is a bit of a mess. A very rough gem.

Grand Ages: Rome is a pretty good city builder. Very much a modern take on the Ceasar series. Nice graphics, lots of buildings, some combat.

I wouldn't expect CO to develop anything like that. They've already said they're going to be supporting C:S for years. Besides, their main interest seems to be traffic management... not a lot of that in ancient titles.

You'd be surprised. The Romans had to invent some rather extensive channel systems just to alleviate some of the gridlock in their largest harbour. The concept of being stuck in traffic is old... very old.

I would pay bigh money for Cities Skylines in Rome.

I think these "styles" would be cool in this hypothetical game:

- Greece
- Rome
- Egypt
- Carthage
- Germanic Tribes...
- and/or Gaul
- Mesopotamia or Babylon or something like that

One thing's for certain, if this game's gettin' made, first thing I'm doing is going with Greece, and making Plato's Republic. I the Philosopher King will watch it fall apart and descend into hysteria as it tries to achieve justice.

I think the last ancient city builder I played was Pharaoh, if anyone knows that game. It was fun! I would still play it today if I didn't have a mac!

Age of Mythology is probably the only place I have played as ancient Germanic type people (well, North Germanic, since it's Norse in the game), but that's not a city builder per sey (neither is Rome Total War lol). That's why I suggested it.

With modern graphics, detail, and such, there's a lot you could do with any of these factions to make them really come to life in a realistic, yet fun (for nerdy history people like me/us) way that might not have been very possible even just several years ago. I hope a game like this comes along from SOMEONE, maybe not (probably not) these devs, but we can only hope!
