Best way to make a roundabout?
I've used some to replace cross sections between 6 lane roads as they tend to cause problems but the roundabouts ended up getting clogged themselves, having a 6 lane road, one way or 2way ends up creating a lot of traffic lights so it doesn't help much, replacing them with highways made the problem even worse, nothing moved at all at the busiest ones, so I came up with this weird design:

It seems to be working better than everything else I've tried but I was worndering, is there a better way to do it?

By making that bridge in the middle, you defeat the whole idea of a roundabout.

Yeah but it wasn't working any other way. It seriously filled every single inch of every single lane taking traffic to a complete stop without it.

Yes, just make a counterclockwise circle and you're done. Also its a good idea to make a bigger roundabout and add onewayroads on both sides, that way the traffic tends to use more lanes.

just use a cloverleaf intersection. its incredibly large so make room for it but i have tons of highway traffic going through each side of the cloverleaf and im not seeing any traffic jams.

I find the most efficient roundabouts are made up of 3 lane highways. You should never build on a roundabout, you will have service vehicles holding up traffic all the time.

I agree, i also only use highway roundabouts.. (and i also think building stuff on a roundabout looks ugly anyway, plus like you said building stuff on a roundabout can clog up traffic)

Yeah I tried it, but the highway version got 100% clogged and nothing moved at any time, it was a full circle of stuck vehicles =/

Also, don't have that much space for a cloverleaf.

Edit: I'm using an identical size one with highways at the center of my oil industry though, it does the job, probably because the traffic is slightly less dense in that area.

building or zoning?
in roundabouts since traffic is so bad in this game nobody uses left lane anyways. so put hospitals there.

I place half the in/out going lanes on the outside, half of them on the inside (via a tunnel under the roundabout).
Doesn't look realistic.
Works like a charm though.

So a roundabout with 4 roads connected. 2 on the outside, 2 on the inside (with tunnels or bridges).
Easy peasy.
Works with 6 lanes (although you get lights for traffic entering the roundabout...no big deal with a traffic light remover) and high-ways

Kinda hard to picture what you mean but I'll give it a try, think I understand it, and yeah I suppose a traffic light remover could be a good idea too.

I couldn't play this game wihout the traffic light toggle mod. Traffic++ is pretty sweet, too. Oh, and the engineer mod... it shows you the angles and lengths of road segments.

Traffic light toggle is cheating. You aren't playing the game anymore. Imagine the chaos if you guys became mayors???

"When I get elected I will remove Traffic Lights to fix gridlock!"

atleast you would be telling the truth unlike the rest of them...

Some roads don't need lights, yet they do have them.

And what is wrong with using mods...
Any mod is cheating.
Even assets, which motivate people to build more beautiful cities etc. would be a cheat.
Who am I cheating against by the way? That's right... no one.
Where is the competition?

Sheesh...

You are cheating against yourself. jeez you guys are the same ones that come in here and say traffic isn't a problem.

Roundabouts has to be kinda big to work, the more roads running into or out of them the bigger.
This thing (wich is NOT a roundabout) takes aa LOT of traffic:

One of the underground roads are not connected right though, just redo it manually and it is a beast.
