Really, it all depends on what you want from a map.
I'm in the mood for a map that is challenging but not overpoweringly difficult,
realistically placed resources yes,
ports yes,
hills and things too,
something just as nice to look at as it is to play :)
It has plenty of flat areas, especially in the starting tile, but there are some nice terrain features like low cliffs, craggy ridge lines, a small cinder cone, and a winding river that flows down a huge waterfall into an eroded volcanic caldera, and then snakes through the playing area before ending in a braided estuary with many small islands.
This is my third version of the map, featuring carefully flattened and graded waterfront areas for use with the new After Dark leisure assets like docks. I have also ensured there are several choice spots big and flat enough for the International Airport.

Subbed and will check it out in a little bit here.
Thanks!
don't know if i've stated it directly to you yet, but i do very much enjoy this map, even if you do bring it up constantly like a new parent talking about their newborn lol. i don't know if it would work quite well for the type of cities i build, but i appreciate the amount of care you took in making it. i hate downloading workshop maps that look awesome only to open them up and everything is messy and awkward up close :/ so it's refreshing to know that at least some people put effort into it.
other than that i LOVE maps that are terrain only. oh the hours i have spent in the map editor deleting out people's horrifying attempts at highway and rail networks. if you aren't inserting them to mimic actual roads that exist in real cities on the terrain you've modeled, it seems like most people should just leave them up to the player. personally, i don't ever model the actual cities from those terrains, i just pick cities that have cool land and build my own stuff so having highways catered to a different metropolis is counter intuitive anyway
This one is a beauty!
