What to do about Jaywalkers?
I'm having a problem with jaywalkers (people and their dogs crossing where they're not meant to). I have a 6 lane road that turns left with a slight curve, and dumps traffic into my eastern tourism district. There is a Statue of Wealth on the tiles nearest to the curved corner and a pedestrian path connects tourists to the back of the statue from the other side (the eastern side).

What I'm seeing is tourists and residents go to the commercial areas on the east side of the statue, then come out of the statue park and cut right across the busy 6 lane road (where there is no crosswalk at all) and go to the residential zone built to the west of the 6 lane highway.

I've placed a pedestrian path over the 6 lane road to fix this, and people and their dogs use it a lot, yet I still have jaywalkers cutting through the traffic! It's a graphical problem only, as they pass through cars, but I don't like seeing it.

Aside from moving the statue, what else should I try to prevent the jaywalkers?

Why would you get rid of jaywalkers? If you've ever driven before you'd realise you could spend all day dodging suicidal people stepping onto the road without looking.

LOL! They're worth 150 points now, aren't they?

Somewhat relevant to the topic, and fairly funny.

ROFL! Too funny :P

I think the problem I'm having could be caused by a favoured transit connection, so I'm going to add an express line with a stop near the statue, and see how that goes...

Just gonna point out that jaywalking is not against the law every where.
There are no laws against crossing the road(except motorways) where you want in the U.K., but you are a pillock if you do it when there's high traffic.

I don't like these situations either. People do take the shortest path so if you provide a better route they will take it. Pedestrian paths can help a lot with this.
I usually use the mod "traffic report tool" to see where the jaywalkers come from and want to go, so I can give them a better option. As a final resort I change parts of roads to highways (or ramps) so people cannot get there at all, but that is hard to make look nice.
