I don´t think that public transport is there to be run at a profit ...
it is rather there to alleviate traffic on the streets and get people (especially tourists) to the spots where they will spend their money (like the commercial zones throughout the city, especially those situated in leisure and tourisdt districts)

I always make a decent amount of money with the metro. At the very least I break even. It does help with traffic. I don't add the metro until I have at least 25K population, though. I make less if I have bus lines also. I do best when I just have metro lines. I have had up to 20% of my population riding the metro - and average about 10%.

I'm currently running a quite profitable metro:

Something around +4k profit, but there's still quite a lot of room for improvements, of course.

Now show us the expenses on the actual budget screen - And yes, you can see both ticket income and line expenses on that screen combined.

But unfortunately it lacks a proper river flow.

I have my metro line making over 500,000.00 a week with only 100 thousand citizens an 14 bus lines. In fact Metro can be manipulated to the point you can simply reduce or offer your city to be tax free to your sims

Impressive.

I make about 5,000 a month with 43,000 people. I setup a line within a "district", then use a line of 2 or three stops to connect the districts

all right. 1 thing thou: which area gets covered by 1 stop? or do i just make it up depending on the radius the smileys appear above the buildings?
Hermit Oct 3, 2015 @ 4:08pm
I just make it up. Normally several blocks apart. By the time I start seeing the smileys I've got everything in place. I'd post a screen shot, but I haven't figured out how to do that.
