Hyperthreading?
Does this game uses hyperthreading a lot? I'm not sure if I should get an i5-6600k or an i7-4790k
Thanx in advance

Yes it does use hyperthreading a lot, at least on my machine hehe, always the same percentage on all 8 graphs for a 4 core CPU (4790k).
It even seems to support more than 4 cores too so if you have the cash get a processor with more cores as the CPU tends to be the bottleneck in this game.

How does hyperthreading work exactly? I've heard the term many times but don't really know much about it except that it involves multiple processors working at the same time, on the same task. Or something like that.

Hyperthreading uses a single physical processor core to run two threads at the same time. There's extra space in the pipelines leading to the execution units in the CPU due to the way the prefetchers are loading the CPU. Intel figured out you could stuff a whole other processor's worth of extra work into the holes where the CPU would essentially be doing nothing while waiting for a value to compute.

TLDR version: Hyper Threading (HT) = smart way to queue task so there will be less idle time.

Given it is Unity, no. Hyperthreading won't really improve your performance much. Hyperthreading is rarely if ever helpful as far as realtime gaming goes due to the nature of threads and synchronization.

true, but overall HT is better than no HT. Because thing always change, and maybe HT will be much more useful in later, that's called future proof.

also Skylake only increases performace 10-15% compares to Haswell, because they are reaching the limitation in transistor size. They have better iGPU though, but who the hell use iGPU when you already have an actual GPU for gaming.
