Cannot load into new games or saved games. RAM usage full. Crash every single time
Anyone has same issue? I cannot even start a new game. No mods just new games. Still use 13GB/16GB of my RAM when loading. Then eventually, CRASHED. As comparison, my 300k ppl city "only" needed 12GB at medium graphics setting. I think my RAM is large enough.

And when i m on content manager page, the game always crashed and exit itself.

Here is part of the crash report tho.

Unity Player [version: Unity 5.6.7f1_e80cc3114ac1]

Cities.exe caused an Access Violation (0xc0000005)

D:\GAMES\Steam Games\steamapps\common\Cities_Skylines\Cities.exe, run by hey_p.
95% memory in use.
16264 MB physical memory [754 MB free].
46629 MB paging file [1 MB free].
134217728 MB user address space [134172768 MB free].
Read from location 00000020 caused an access violation.

1. I have tried validate game files.
2. I reinstalled the game. Deleted all previous folders in the Steamapp folders as well as appdata folder in C disks. Basically its a fresh new start.
3. I dont sub to any of the broken mods. Also i disable all mods
4. I tried noWorkshop launch option

is this game issue or mod issue or just something magically wrong with my computer?

Mine is i7-9750H, RTX2070 MAX-Q, 16 GB RAM.

edit: btw i subbed 2200 workshop items...okay

95% memory in use.
16264 MB physical memory [754 MB free].
46629 MB paging file [1 MB free].

That says you are using all 16GB of your RAM, plus all 46GB of your pagefile for a whopping total of almost 64GB of memory before you ran out.

It sounds like you have a ton of workshop, or a hell of as lot of programs running in the background.

I dont think so. Its just loading a new game. I disabled all mods.

Mods are still compiled on loading if disabled. you need to unsubscribe them.

Oh!!! Really? Okay lol i guess too much assets.

So, it's working now? But yeah, assets chew up memory more than mods on average.

Then you need more RAM, or bigger page file.

Doesnt make any sense. The game was fine a while ago.

Did you subscribe to extra content since then? As mentioned above you don't have enough memory to handle the content you have installed.

ummmmmm i did but just a few. Probly a few hundred extra MB. I was using 11GB/16GB back then for my 300k population city. I dont even know about this game anymore man.

Interesting - due to the way the game handles content a few hundred MB can be more like a GB when installed.

If you added a few hundred MB, then those will decompress in memory by up to 50 times their size. So it can get big very fast.

This has nothing to do with the game, it has to do with you loading up more workshop than your rig can handle.

Roughly, 1,000 asset subscriptions will use 16GB, and that is a conservative number. Asset subscriptions can have more than one item in them.

Like I said, it's not the game, it's your addition to workshop. You are way overloading it to the hilt. lol If you are very selective and only subscribe what you need now, and not for future use, that will never happen, then you will be fine.
