Achievements disabled, but why?
After having 20'000+ inhabitants I began wondering why I stopped getting achievements after a few hours. I checked my save and it said achievements are disabled. I don't use any mods though. I made sure to turn off every single item I don't need and started a new city. After saving a 700 inhabitant town - so a fairly new save - and checking, it said achievements are disabled again! But I don't understand why :c
Is there a way to turn them on again somehow? I like achievements, so it's quite frustrating..

Mods, mods disable achievements.
But ironically there is a mod that enables achievements with mods.

I think as soon as a game is flagged for no achievements it's locked, but I couldn't be 100% sure. The easiest thing to do is go get the mod that allows achievements while playing with mods.

Just remember that even with the mod, the game will still have the no achievements symbol but you'll still get them though.

Most of the achievements are easiest to get by using a fresh new city.
So, you can start new cities to get them without any mods active and meanwhile you can focus on your other city projects with whichever mods you wish.

At the load screen for a save, if you see the trophy icon whole, it means 2 things. One that you did not save the game with an active mod and two, that you do not have an active mod right now.
If you see the trophy icon struck through, then this could either mean the save is no longer eligible for achievements due to having saved it with an active mod, or
you have an active mod on right now, check via Content Manager.
There have been many times, I have gone to load a vanilla save that I was certain had never been played or saved with an active mod, and I've seen it struck through. In every case, it was due to a mod that I had forgotten to turn off. Simply doing so and loading that save again, shows a clear trophy icon ;)

Using any mod and saving the game while that mod is active is what will disable the achievement eligibility. Once it is made ineligible it cannot be reversed. For this reason at the very least, it isn't a good idea to use autosave. Instead, turn this off and discipline yourself to make regular saves manually. Use a good naming system for your saves. Start with the name of the city and a brief note of whatever stage in the build you were at at the time of the save. This will serve as a handy reminder.
eg. High Springs 2nd dam = HS dam2

Thanks for the reply c:

It works now with the achievement mod you recommended. But I still didn't use any mod when I created the city, nor did I use any afterwards. I'm pretty sure all were off. It's really weird, but I guess everything is fixed now.

I'll try to save my files like that for security purposes ^^

Did you accept a bailout at any point in your game?

Ohh, I did! Was it because of that?

Yes. That disables achievements.

I'm having the same problem but on PSN. I had my save do exactly the same thing. I had the main game I was using and I created a new game in a snow world to get the achievement. Haven't gotten any trophies since 5/19 & 5/30 when I did that. Not anytime that save is loaded there is an icon on the load select screen saying trophies disabled

I've Never been bankrupt, never used unlimited money in ANY game, no loans during that time or since. Reloaded 5/26 save and STILL says it.

This thread was quite old before the recent post, so we're locking it to prevent confusion.
