*** Recent AVG update stops Cities: Skylines from running at all ***

In the last few days we've had several cases where this game crashed right at the start, with a Windows error either BEX 64 or APPCRASH. This is on computers where the game had been working fine.

By experiment it has been found that disabling AVG, or adding cities.exe to AVG's exception list (whitelist) immediately fixes the problem.

It's not known at present whether an AVG app update, or virus signature update, initiated the problem.

This problem is my exact problem only i am with Bit Defender. Can someone explain to me how to "white out" Cities Skyline or STEAM from the app.? So far i have tried what i percieve to be as "rules" and "allowances" for these folders and files and still i get the tweety bird on startup that spins up to half way then a BEX64 crash. This is so frustrating.

Turn off traffic mods and this should help, i had the same problem, it fixed it immediatel :) hope this helps.

My game wont load and i have disabled avg but it still crashes before loading even the start game page, please help

Ive been having a similar issue except i can start the game and play for a bit before it crashes it self and my display driver, If its the lastest AVG update causing this im gonna scream lol. Its been driving me crazy.

I just have windows defender as well, it seems to keep popping up and causes the game to crash. Previously, it was McAfee letting me know my subscription expired every time i tried to run the game, but I uninstalled that

Games these days became so buggy and crashed so often, I bought a copy of Left 4 Dead 2 just because it is fun and it is stable. It also does not appear to crash and multiplayer works relatively flawlessly despite my crappy internet.

I mean, how hard can it be just to have a stable reliable game? What on earth happened in the world of technology that made it so that nobody can create something without frequent crashes.

No DLC ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥. No ingame currency scams (my steam wallet is enough.) No Uplay, Origin or any other ♥♥♥♥♥♥ platform that don't add to the experience other than a freaking extra account.

My game also is acting strange [error after few seconds in main menu] - never happend before, already verified cache, added whole cities folder to white list in Avast. Long time PC / gamer , my comp is clean, and i have nice mods collection [carefully choosen].

It's especially fragile when im typing Cityname at start new game screen.

Sorry if this annoys anyone but could someone please explain what an AVG is and how I can stop CSL from crashing everytime I try to load a saved game. I think I have the same problem stated in the OP.

citie.exe funktioniert nicht richtig is my german Windows 10 Error Code on my PC, what is wrong, it has nothing to do with my antivirus programm that absolutly nonsense you writing,
i think there was an update from windows 10 from microsoft , a few days before that could cause therefore it doesn`t launched again,
i need an solution, and i am not the only one i see ..
