- you motherboard:
check in the manual or website which ram memories are recommended, and which is the max amount it will recognize. Not all brands will work the same even if they share similar specs. At least thats what sellers and the companies that create the mobos advice. Not sure why, i just bought the rams i read were compatible with my mobo.
- you os:
windows usually cripples the amount of ram that can be detected, depending in the version you are using. ie home edition will detect less ram than a pro version. Tip: linux distros dont usually have this limitations: they will recognize all ram you have installed, as long as its recognized by the mobo.
+ your cpu:
your cpu may be compatible for more ram, but if the mobo cant support or detect as much ram as your cpu, your are stuck with the limits of the mobo.
1. my MB is Intel Z390 ROG MAXIMUS XI HERO (WI-FI)
2.win10 pro
3.Intel® Core™ i7-9700K ark.intel.com
4.MemTest86 tested 1000% OK no error
https://www.asus.com/us/Motherboards/ROG-MAXIMUS-XI-HERO-WI-FI/specifications/
It can only detect 64gb max, but since you installed bigger ram, it could mean they could last longer since they wont be working at 100% of the capacity.
im not sure about that: you show consult an expert about that. Ask what happens to your ram cards if you have bigger ram than what your system can detect. Maybe its not a complete waste.
Those things can be way more expensive than gamer mobo, unless you get a used one and find cheap cpus for it.
ROG MAXIMUS XI HERO (WI-FI) BIOS 0805
01. Improved DRAM stability
02. Supported JEDEC standard DDR4 32GB memory
03. Updated RST driver
04. Update ME FW
https://www.asus.com/us/Motherboards/ROG-MAXIMUS-XI-HERO-WI-FI/HelpDesk_Download/
and I have asked Asus to confirm that the motherboard supports up to 128Gb
It doesn't make much sense to upgrade higher-end CPUs or better motherboards. I don't think the problem is hardware.
the mobo will detect bigger cards, but it wont be able to use them 100%.
Maybe this could help:
https://appuals.com/windows-10-wont-use-full-ram/
There are other games that do use more than 64GB of RAM
Burn-in test also confirms that there is no problem with the equipment
So the BIOS drivers have been updated to the latest
But this game just cannot use more than 64Gb
not sure how you measure how much ram other games use, but afaik most will only need 16 gb or less of ram, even recent titles. the only thing that usually improves the performance of most games is better gpu, but cs demands more of cpu with big cities since there are too many variables happening at once.
Why do you think it will exceed 64 GB of RAM? What is installed?
If you add workshop, your system will get slower and slower. Workshop are add-ons to the game and can use a lot of resources in some cases.
What is being slower and slower? and in what way?
How much memory did MemTest86 report was installed?
That says it supports 32 GB single sticks. So if you have a set of 128 GB (4 x 32 GB) it should work. If you bought a set of 128 GB (2 x 64 GB) they may not fully work.
Your 0805 MB BIOS is very, very old. 1401 is the newest BIOS available. Upgrade BIOS. Make sure to undo any overclocking if you overclock your system.
Why do you think it should be more? The game uses what it needs. It doesn't go 100% because it can, it needs to be used in some fashion.
I may not write well, please forgive me
..
Why do you think it will exceed 64 GB of RAM?
..
Because I think the game has more resources available, but it does n’t
..
What is installed?
..
More assets and bigger cities. It should use more.

128G.

I would like to ask you some common sense, non-ECC DDR4 memory does not have a single 64G memory.
..

What I posted is different from the original design. The motherboard's BIOS version 0805 has been supported by the BIOS.
I did update to the latest version and I did not overclock

I would write it like this because the previous enthusiastic player questioned that my CPU level was not enough to cope, and the game could not use these resources, but it was not the case from the manager. The maximum usage rate was not more than 40%. Obviously, the resources were not Not fully used.
..
Or
The driver is not installed
Failure caused by overclocking
Or maybe
Operating system is not supported
My other account, The Elder Scrolls V, can use more than 90GB of memory. But in Cities: Skylines NOT
