Cities: Skylines
Industry - Clean, high tech, environmentally sane generic for highly educated.
Hey again. This one thing has been bothering me since release. Its only very low tech base industry like ore, fores, farming and oil or very dirty, noisy and pollutive generic industry..

Why is this? Some in other discussions have said that offices are high tecj industry but office is hardly industry, its other kind of business.

What i am talking is industry that makes mobile phones, solar panels, games (thsi could be ofiice), other software, computer parts, new techmologies.

Educating sims to get industry evolve has been one of the biggest parts of my Simcitying and while i educate people, it seems that education is not really used for my advantage, sure i get some better generic industry but specialisation do not require much education and really forestry is only clean industry right now and i can just havce huge district of forest industry, it does not work well and its boring.

Is something in development for this in tyhe future like more specialisations that take best advantage of highly educated sims or perphaps there is (once again >.<) a mod that does this for the developer?

Any insight on thisssss...?
I posted about this a long time ago under the wishlist, but so far nothing has came of it. I agree on this.
i couldnt agree more! you almost have you choose between having an educated population with offices or uneducated population with industry. even when you try to balance it out eventually industry fails coz your peeps choose to work in offices
I lpve having both proper industries, AND offices, but it's a delicate balance. Setting a close-by neighbourhood to chose work over education can help get the industries pumping. Over servicing industrial areas with fire, police health and parks helps too.
Just imagine that they are devoloping mobile phones, solar panels, computer parts, new techmologies etc. in their offices.

Enjoy !
If there's one thing EA's SimCity (5?) did well over this game, it was this thing. I'd love to see high-tech industry, too, with little to no pollution and/or noise, and a wide variety of fields.
I am personally not yet at the state of having offices actually, my city planning is such that i constantly reworks areas but the industry is something that bothers me really as i would like to be challenged with more educational options and more options to move towards clean industry that is not really what fprestry os om reality. Sure forests are great and clean when they grow up but leave vast areas of emptiness when harvested, this is not happening in game. Also wood industry is noyt clean when using conservativce agents to make wooden products last longer and paper industry for example has its own challenges..

Naturally wood industry in highly educated city could be leveled up to industry that deals with todays top technology wood fibers and such products...

Farming could also have different kinds of stuff regarding educational status and policies on a city, organic food industry for example... Though i dont really use farm industry as it feels wweird after playing with Cities XL farms which at least looked like large farms with large grain fields and such, this is something i hope that would be implemented here as well, not basic zoning for 4x4 building on farming industry but bigger farms that are only constrained by the size of zone you give to them, i remember that Simcity also had great looking farms.

But high tech specialization which requires broad educational system is really something i would like to have.
I miss SimCity 4s high-tech industries that were clean and buildable in a populated area :(
I miss the simcity4 education too. In that game you actually had to invest in education over time and if you did you were rewarded with high tech industry.
