Unemployment - Available jobs
Not really sure what's going on here. According to the game ledger, i have about 15.000 available jobs for my cims. But despite a bunch of available jobs, i have 30%+ unemployment?

I'm not sure where those 15k available jobs are located either. I've scanned all my districts and industry, and i can find maybe about 500 jobs available at best across all of them? Why does the game list 15.000 in that case?

Game is not telling you have 15k open. Game is telling you have 15k jobs total, of which 14501 are taken. what's open is the difference between the 2.

What are your cim's education levels?
buda atum Jun 22, 2023 @ 6:51pm
Jobs in schools and jobs in police and jobs in garbage and jobs in parks and jobs driving buses and jobs driving trains and jobs with the dead and jobs with the sick and lots of other workers in those industrial areas of your's make for a pretty tidy number of jobs in their own right.

Regardless, you got 30%+ unemployment because you ain't got enough jobs for the number of cims seeking work. And you got no housing demand because there's no jobs for cims to come to your city to do. You got a tiny bump in commercial though. Half that is likely worth 300 to 500 jobs. But to be honest, you need more info.

6 Blocks of Residential not built up, future connection to Park so i can avoid power lines. About 1 block worth of Office space not built yet on the Right side of Summit Park.

Education level is
24% Uneducated
24% Educated
13% Well Educated
35% Highly Educated

That is true for Public services. Although, I included my estimated amount of available jobs in DLC industry aswell, there are not many jobs available in those places, maybe 150 - 200 available there. In the other districts on a closer inspection there might be 500 extra jobs available.

I do probably need more jobs. But I dont understand, if I have so little jobs available, why does the game tell me i have 15k open?

Buda atum is correct. You have 63% of your population in their working years so that is about 23k cims looking for jobs and that screen says there is only 15k total in the city.

If you want to check it out, this mod has a bunch of added detail info in it. One tab is devoted to employment.

What buda atum says is true but is not the whole story.

When you only have 550 vacant jobs but 31% unemployment it shows an imbalanced job market. You have zoned for offices but these need well /highly educated workers. These workers can and will if necessary work in lower educated jobs but the reverse is not true as uneducated cims cannot get jobs in offices.

I suspect your unemployment is because you have too many uneducated cims so either zone some commercial or dezone your office space and zone industrial instead. Remember migrants to your city will be uneducated so you will always need to provide appropriate jobs for them.

Recommend you use the More Employment Information mod that buda atum uses as it will show the employment percentage for each education level.

I have this mod and use it often but always thought it was vanilla. Shame if it isn't because that's like flying blind.

This is the mod to work out what your demand bar is for, especially when determining between Industry or Office or jobs for which educated level.
