Need help with contaminated drinking water
I have an area of my city where a bunch of homes got sick people. It looks like its all due to contaminate drinking water. My contamination level is 8% now. It is spreading now over more area.

I dont know where it is coming from. Ive looked all over. I look at areas that are polluted on the map, brown, and I cant find any water sources there. I have my pumps in a lake where they have always been and it is a different lake than where I dump sewage. Even my sewage isnt bad now because I have the eco water treatment plants. Anyhow, dumping dirty water in one lake and pumping drinking water in a separate lake. No connectrions.

Later on I built some water towers for the first time and like how they raise my water supply so easily. I figure it has to be one of them on top of an area with some pollution? I look all over the map and cant find any sitting on polluted ground. My land pollution is at 7%, all from industrial mostly. I had some that were close to lakes and I think that polluted the water some, but the lake where I pump drinking water has none of that which I can see.

Any ideas? Do the crematoriums cause contaminated water? What are the possible sources of water contamination? I seemed to have it all covered.

I even tried building more pipes to have stronger connections all over the map, connecting areas with each other better. The contamination seemed to start in a newer area near a train station I just built. There are no water towers there, unless I missed one.

Whats the best way to search out your water towers? When I have the water icon clicked it shows the whole water system, but the towers are small and easy to miss. I cant remember where I put them. I looked at the polluted areas, brown, and cant see any on top.

Sewage is not backing up, there is plenty of treatment plants. Ive got about 25,000 people now. Up until now I never had this problem. Its as if the train station did something.

Its ok to have water/sewer/pipes go under polluted land, right? That should be safe. Is there something crazy like a leak in a line!?

Go into the Water info panel and it will show you where your water towers and other water supplies are at, as well as any brown pipes that are polluted. I would bet you have a water tower near industry or a garbage dump somewhere, that is getting contaminated. Move or remove it and it should clear up.
View this in the pollution overlay. The water pollution(brownish pipes) should be able to be see in the most effected pipes and should lead you to the source the the pollution contaminant.

The icon for all of the sick people is the same, the sign with the blue glass of water. When I click on the icon on the houses it tells me its contaminated water.

Having pipes running through land pollution is not an issue what you are looking for is something that's picking up the pollution like a tower.

I stopped using pipes and sewer. I just love the remove need for power lines and pipes mods. Sadly, I now have an 81 tile mod throwing errors while using them. :/

Ok, thanks guys! I did not know that the pipes will show as brown. As far as finding the water towers, I know they light up blue, but is there a list somewhere that shows them all or is it a matter of finding them with your eyes? Im having problems seeing them because the city has gotten quite large and there is a lot of clutter.

Dang, found it fast once I knew the pipes would be brown! Took just a minute. Its a small water tower at the corner of a waste process complex! I will just delete it I think. To be safe. Maybe make a fresh one somewhere else if needed.
It is indeed on the pollution overlay. I had no knowledge that the sewer pipes showed on that, but it makes perfect sense. i was thinking it would show brown on the water overlay. On the water overlay everything looks normal. Isnt the greenish line supposed to be sewer?

Hopefully my people recover fast! Thanks for the tip.

Is there anything that can be done to clean those lines out, or is it just a matter of waiting it out?

Wait it out they will clear. If they don't or your water pollution in the pollution overlay states that you have more than 0% DIRTY WATER then you will still be on the hunt for another dirty water sucker.

The water overlay is limited to only showing IF your water and sewage are operating. The pollution overlay only shows pollution levels. So therefore it makes sense to look for POLLUTED water in this view. Sewage is not the same as pollution this is why in the pollution view they are brown but in the water view they are green(operating) regardless of what is flowing through.

When it comes to water and power I am a die hard. I have tried the mods(for a tiny time) but there was something about them. Some interesting behaviours that didn't seemly interrupt the game but did change things.

it cleared fast. Now I have zero %. It was just that one tower that was placed too close to the trash processors.

Yeah, now that you say that it makes sense.
