Is my graphic card good enough(Nvidia Geforce 9500 GT) good enough to run it without lagg then what graphic card should i get.
I got cities skylines and i got really excited about it. So, When it finished downloading I loaded it up. The start screen was smooth(I thought the game was going to be like that). Then I Started to setup my first game (in the customize screen). When, I finished all that I loaded up my game.
I got ready to do it but when , I got going i noticed a river and how laggy it was. Then I noticed it was the whole game. So, I tried playing it but it was really bad. So, I exited the world and, I turned down the graphics but that only did a little. It was at least a little bit playable for awhile i guess :(
So, I restarted my pc. That didn"t do much. So, I started researching about the lag but, there was stuff about laptop (I have a desktop pc). So, then I did a test on my pc and it said my gpu
was really super low(in the 30%:( ). So, I don't know if i set it up wrong or, i just need to get a new graphics card but what kind and how much. PLz respond. I really want to play this game without excessive lag. :steamsad:

9500GT is like more than 10 years old, and I dont think your CPU will also strong enough to play. Time to upgrade.

so what should i do

I'm playing with a gtx960 and it runs well on almost all high settings. So you could probably run it on decent settings with one of the lower 900 series. (I think you can find some for $100, try newegg.) Definitely worth it to upgrade your graphics card if you have the CPU for it.

just post your full spec, see if we can salvage anything.

I'm pretty sure the bottleneck of this game, given a decent GPU, is the CPU.

Edit: But yeah, you'd need both, I'm guessing.

As old as that video card is I think you'd need a new cpu as well, which means a new motherboard and memory as well.

Minimum of $500 to replace the whole thing.

Post your CPU and memory as well in case they are actually reusable.

A quick glance at newegg DIY shows this for $400:

i have a intel i7 with 870@ 2.93Ghz

Your i7 870 should be more than enough for this game. At least for a dozen or more tiles.

Anyway, I'm not sure about your power supply, but you should be able to run a 750Ti. It needs a 6-pin power adapter on some model, but it comes with a 6-pin to 4-pin molex power adapter. The card pull very low power if you don't over clock it.

If you have the money, An AMD 380 are $150-$175 when on sale. But they need more power. so depending on your power supply, you may need a new power supply.
