[SOLVED] Water pollution from landfill seeping into my pipes.
My source of water is all clean. The pollution is coming from the landfill and it's seeping thru the pipes. Not sure how to mitigate it, never had this problem in the past.

Here's a wide view. The source is upstream near the tweet bird. You can also barely see ground pollution seeping into my water pipes. I've googled for days but no one seems to have the same problem. Anyone?

im new to the game but if the source of the pollution is your landfill wont a incenerartor plant burn your waste and help solve the problem?...athrough i think it only burns 85% of it

Pollution doesn't seep into water pipes. Your water pumps are placed near pollution. Check that ware pump is a long distance from water sewage as it can backup to the water pump.

Try posting pictures of your water map since your problem is with water. not pollution.

When you see the water pump you'll see an outline of its area of effect, make sure no polluted water is inside this area and no nearby factories, sewage pipes or treatment plants are nearby. Ideally these things should be very, very, apart. If the pump's area of effect overlaps the outflow of any sewage facilities it'll suck that sewage into the system.

1. I have zero water towers in the city.
2. As mentioned, the clean water pumps is near the bird on the second picture where it's two map tiles from the nearest pollution.
3. From the 1st pic, You can see that the ground pollution from industry is also seeping into my pipes

That’s an interesting image. Could you post a water map image of that area. Because it looks to me as well that something is sucking up ground water. The heating pipes in the image seem to stop at highway and the pipes at the highway seem to be the darkest pollution.

Edit,
Are you using heating pipes in your industry? I have yet to play with the heating system for the game. Wondering if you had put your “water heating building” in your industrial area could the pollution sneak in from there?

We can't help you if you don't show us a picture of your water map. The pollution maps shows nothing about your water supply at all.

If you can'r be bothered to show the water map then we can't bother to guess what is your issue when your water map will plainly show your issue.

Hey hey, chill friend. I gotta farm cubicles with my spare time!

Instead of sharing pics all day, i've uploaded the city on steam workshop. I'd apprecieate it very much if you guys could take a look see.

**** This is where i stop typing to take a screenie of the water map, and..........***

So apparently my decorations were acting like water pumps, it doesn't appear when i click thru the utilities ( to see highlighted stuff ) until i opened the watermap like you asked. What really threw me off was the pollution occuring on the opposite end of the city. Jeez.

Problem Solved. Thanks guys!

Just to finish this thread off...You have to be really careful when you use custom mods on a map. Make sure you read and understand the description from the mod's author before using it in-game. They can do things you didn't know about.

Thanks for uploading city.

replacing that water pipe did this

http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=741763741

After solving with replacing pipe the city started to have a death issue for me. Good side a good many zones started to upgrade (little green arrows everywhere) right after pipe replacement.

Glad you got it sorted. Sorry if I was a little heated, lol, but I was trying to focus you on the issue. It is easy to get distracted with water pollution being a problem with pollution, instead of water.

That is the trouble with mods, they are community generated, not by CO, so you can get issues with them. Just try to remember to read descriptions. If they are short then usually are generic, if long descriptions, then it usually means it doesn't behave normally. Comments will help as well for problematic items as people usually report issues they are having.

Did you report your issue to the mod page that was problematic to let them know? It will help them make a better mod for everyone.

I just played your city. I unsubscribed to the water ditches or whatever they were called and things were fine.

However, I see a few minor issues for you that will eventually overwhelm you.

First, roads are too close together in a lot of areas. Buildings can't grow to their 4x4 area as the next street over overlaps your zoning areas. This not only affect the buildings, but also the traffic. Those short blocks can back up traffic.

second, your industry is too far away from your commercial area. This game is an agent based simulation and agents (cims) need to get from point A to point B in a timely manner or bad things happens. You already have worker shortages as it's such a long trip, but soon you'll have commerce complaining from not enough goods to sell.

Third, your specialized industry is segregated from the generic industry. You should connect the two ares with more roads instead of using the highways to deliver them. Transportation can alleviate this a bit, but is not reliable in the long run and will ultimately cause you to reach your traffic limit, which is the lowest limit in the game at 16k, which stops vehicles from spawning.

Thanks for the advise. Yes the connections are not the most optimal. However this is an achievement city, so i have to be budget concious. The mines deplete over time so i'm not too bothered to implement any long term infrastructure. Once they serve their purpose i'll phase out the mines. You will see evidence of this if you take a look at the mineral map. When the mining industry declines i'll replace it with offices since they are quite educated anyway.

For the roads close together, it's intentional to do 1x2 terrace houses. Since it's low density residential, traffic isn't really a problem. It's a design decision. It is and made to look like old town.

For commecial goods, you will see a railway passing near the city. The city will be supplied via freight from the manufacturing region. I'll put high density commercial around the freight station. For industry to industry freight, i'm hoping they will use the trains too. Failure to do so, i'll have to look at connecting them together like you said. Bear in mind i was piss poor when the initial roads were laid.

Thanks for the feedback!
