Specs?
How well can these specs run the game? Constant 60fps perhaps?

Model: ASUS ROG G751JY-VS71(WX)
Graphics Processor: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 980M w/ 4GB GDDR5
RAM: 16 GB DDR3 SDRAM
Processor: 2.6 GHz Intel Core i7-4720HQ
Max Screen Resolution: 1920*1080
Screen Size: 17.3 inches

Edit: I haven't gotten a computer yet, so I may find another computer. My budget is $2000 at most.

Edit 2: I got a computer and it is not this one. Posting new specs (same discussion).

You should have no issues with that rig. Just be careful as workshop adds an extra load to your system and will slow things down. The more you add the slower it gets.

This game is quite hard on CPUs compared to other games, especially when you get a big city with a huge population.

My i7 albeit old generation 2600K overlocked to 4.4Ghz works pretty hard to run the game with my GTX970. In a small city I get 50-60fps and when it gets massive it drops down to 30fps. That's at 1440p, I suspect lowering it to 1080p will make a bit of a difference.

I'm not interested in having a lot of workshop items, though I appreciate the warning. I'll make sure to be careful.

The GTX 980M is slower than a GTX 960 and the Core i7-4720HQ is about the same as an I5-6600. Sorry, but that's just the way it is, these model numbers of laptop cards and CPUs are misleading, they make people think they have the products that are as fast as desktop products with similar names, when they reality is that they're quite slower.
Personally I would never game on a laptop, too slow, often thermally throttled and often have some weird issues. Laptops are simply not well suited for gaming.

I'm afraid I might need a laptop, as the mobility of a laptop is very important. I'm not planning on going crazy with settings (i.e. 4k gaming and other similar stuff) or getting super demanding games, so I might be in the clear. But like I said, getting a laptop might be my only option, due to it's mobility.

I am perfectly fine with gaming at 1080p. I didn't check to see if I can turn the settings down, but if I can then I wouldn't mind playing on low settings. In my eyes, fps>graphics (unless the graphics look like a potato is running it).

Thanks for all of your inputs! I am still looking for computers, so I didn't get one yet. If I find another, better computer, I will come back here. But for now, I think this computer is my best option. (My budget is $2000 at the most)

I have a similar laptop. It's also an ASUS so it should be fine driver-wise. The only difference would be my laptop which has a 960M, not a 980M. I can still run on max graphics with 50-60 fps up to a city with about 50,000 (including lots of workshop mods). After that, I have to drop it to medium graphics.

Edit: spelling

This game is pretty demanding on any setup. Here is my setup and i am around 30fps once the city gets to resonable size.

Intel core i7-4790k
gtx 970
16gb ram

That's an awesome laptop. But remember laptops are lower powered than desktops by far.

Go slow and don't get workshop happy and subscribe to a bunch of stuff.

I recommend playing vanilla until you lock everything or to 9-tile full. This way you learn the game, then you can better select which items you need from the workshop.

Thanks for warning me! I am used to games like these (building/simulation) so I think I'll get the hang of it pretty quickly. I also will make sure to not get a bunch of workshop stuff.

I had to get this one because it was less expensive than other good gaming laptops I looked at. I couldn't get a desktop due to the fact that it isn't mobile like a laptop.

Is your city really big with a huge population? Lots of workshop items?
