Playing with Quay Anarchy and what about retaining walls?
So I added the Quay anarchy mod and I love it especially for building on hilly terrain. I've been just kinda farting around with it to get a feel for how it works. I like using it as a retaining wall but I wondered is there any way to get a Quay wall that's not as fat? These work well but they're massively thick for use as a retaining wall. Still much better than nothing but I wondered if there was anything else out there people are using.

Here's a screenshot of me playing around with it just for funsies

You can use the "node controller renewal" mod to decrease the thickness

Ooooh, awesome! I'll check out both options

EDIT - ok sooooo, I used node controller and I can shrink it down but anything less than 66% or so shows alot of holes on the inside of the Quay. The retaining walls in the workshop are actually just props and therefore do not actually "retain" the terrain like a Quay. So I'll play around some more here but this is a bit better. Now I need tree and prop anarchy I guess so I can place things closer to the walls. yay more mods :-)

Just thought I'd update this for anyone else interested. I think I found something that might work for what I want. Mostly I just want it to look more like an actual retaining wall of sorts than a Quay wall stuck in the middle of the ground sooo, I'm gonna try this out from Avanya and see how that looks, it's an actual Quay wall and will act as such but looks more like a retaining wall. I like the fence too.

you can use ploppable asphalt surfaces behind the wall to make it look like it retains the ground.

ploppable asphalt is the name but thex are available in pavement, grass, gravel, ... too.

If you want to search the Workshop for networks (stuff that you can place by dragging a line from point A to point B like: roads, rails, quays, fences, etc.) you need to select the 'Road' category, and type what you're looking for in the search box.

If you search for 'Quay', you'll get several pages full of quays and walls that actually hold back the terrain: https://steamcommunity.com/workshop/browse/?appid=255710&searchtext=quay&browsesort=trend&section=readytouseitems&requiredtags%5B0%5D=Road&created_date_range_filter_start=0&created_date_range_filter_end=0&updated_date_range_filter_start=0&updated_date_range_filter_end=0&actualsort=trend&p=1&days=-1

At the top you see the 'Concrete Quay' by Avanya. This quay doesn't have a path on it, nor any props. It holds back the terrain, and it's rather small. Perfect to use as a retaining wall: https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1357089942&searchtext=quay

I had searched Quay in the workshop and that's how I found the one I posted above but I didn't know they appeared under the road category so thanks, I will narrow it down to that and have a look.

So I've been playing around with this a little bit and I'm getting the hang of it and what I can do and getting results I'm happy with. The only thing I still need to sort out is I can't place trees very close to Quay walls even with tree anarchy on, I'm thinking I might need road anarchy as well which I'm planning to get anyway so I'll try that next.

Here's the result of my farting around to see how I can get it to work for what I wanted.

The reason you cannot place trees on the quays, is because of the new feature implemented into the game. With this feature you can change the trees on networks that allready have trees in them with other trees. You can do that by selecting a specific tree and then clicking on the network (roads, paths, quays, but it also works with the 'Terraced Planters' by Avanya for instance). The default trees now get replaced with the one you selected. (This was a feature of the 'Network Skins' mod, but has been incoporated into the game itself with the patch that came along with the latest DLC. More info here: https://forum.paradoxplaza.com/forum/developer-diary/airports-dev-diary-5-free-update-patch-notes.1506966/ )

Because of this, the game "thinks" you're trying to change the trees on the quays, even if the quay in question doesn't have any on them...

You need to use the Move It mod to place the trees there, or use a quay that allready has trees on them, and use the feature as described above to get the trees you like on them.

Ahhhhh, ok Thanks for the explanation, I was about to pop in and see if turning off road collision would make a difference but that makes sense. I can just use Move it for the instances I want to do that.

Whenever I place trees on a concrete surface I really like to use these: https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=850878312&searchtext=planters
