Then build more tourist attraction to draw in more tourists. Be careful for what you wish for though, it can wreak havoc on your roads.

I built 70% of the attractions/buildings, those tourists just prefer to ride the bus and tram. I was just confused since I got 4k on subway and ~5k on bus and tram combined but only lousy 7(!) are using taxis.

Then you should be happy your mass-transit system is working so well.

4k and 5k numbers are for all cims, I think taxis only run tourists since they were introduced together. Plus taxis only hold a few people, while buses hold like 80 and metro even more. I think taxis are more for cosmetics and extra happiness to the game.

I did a litle experiment on my own city now - 70k pop, in about 4 squares. Leisure and tourist districts. I removed all extra transit services and bus/metro lines, and I added about 25 or so taxi depots spread around (just in case). Let it pass in time for about two-three years. Taxis in use before - 10 citizens, 5 tourists. After - 89 citizens, 59 tourists (still slightly growing). Metro+buses were about 5k citizens beforehand.

I think this is the type of game that people will always own their own car - unless they are using some other form of transit that isn't taxis. And probably if they have their own car, they'll opt to use that versus taxis, unless there isn't another way. Not like taxis really help with traffic, reducing cars, or anything truly helpful (I think anyway, replacing one car with another really). I'll probably end up having one taxi depot, and if it runs, it runs - but I won't expect it to be a mainstay. Kind of wish it was used a bit more though.

I have 34 Taxi stand arround my city. Well I guess Cims don't really like taxis. Might as well get rid of them. On the other hand they're really cheap, so I don't really care for the money. But glad to see I'm not the only one who noticed his cims don't like taxis.

Yeah, I know, I was disappointed lol. Filling the city with so many taxis (I saw like 6 in a line at one point at one intersection), trying to get people to use them. Putting a bunch of random taxi stands too just in case. Yelling in my head "Comon people, use them!". I guess they did a little. But oh well lol.

There lies the problem with the traffic in my opinion. If they had added more detail such as their previous games (cities in motion) then mass transit would be a much bigger thing. It would also mean that traffic would be awful too but still.

It would be nice if there were a way to mod the detail/difficulty into cities.
