Naturally some lines end up with one stop that is crazy with passengers. Those "stops" might benefit from a express bus or two to grab all the passengers going to the same popular stop along that line. So the express busses only goes to one other stop and the stop it starts from.
I don't judge by "how many car trips saved" I judge by how many waiting at stops and how long an overflow of passengers lasts.
Vanilla and modded.
Sometimes due to serving very low density areas, sometimes in very large cities but with many other transit options nearby, and so on.
I find public transport more a hindrance than a help as it just acts as a crowd creator and causes worse jams on foot, rail or road than anything else. It quickly becomes a nuisance.
I might make a railway line from time to time just because I like watching them, not because I need one, as I know it'll get overcrowded quickly yet the change to traffic will remain negligible.
