But for a better answer to your post, I think my comment on the amount of worker barracks and maintenance buildings will help you the most. (comment #6).
Which improves profitability how?
A factory not producing goods only costs money. A factory that produces the maximum amount of goods it can is far more profitable.
Line's not so clear when it's you but in the hot seat is it?
Mr. Monday, When you say "best way to improve industry profitability" just exactly what do you mean by BEST? The best way with all types of industry? best way way with any industry? best way efficiently? best way economically? best way financially? or just the best way to make the most profit period? Then the best way in what sort of conditions? with or without mods? There's no point in wasting every ones time telling you something you don't want to hear. or are unwilling to try.
For instance I see you show industrial weekly profit of 109,700 where I show 159,000 and I don't have any generic or specialized industry and no fishing industry. Only DLC and no farming or forestry or factories. I do have Oil and Ore but they are less than half built as yet. You've got me beet Hands down on warehouses about 220% But then I've only built 4 so far as I'm just getting started.
I have another map with the industrial park a bit further along (50%) that is reporting 641,697.00 in profits for last week.
So how much improvement are you looking for?
First of all I have NO idea what to tell you about generic, specialized and fish industries. I never use them. On the other hand DLC is a snap. Looking at the same panel that you show in your screen shot my Industry areas show Forestry, Farming, Ore, Oil, and Warehouses in that order top to bottom For last week Under INCOME it shows 36k, 39k, 31k 169k 364k under EXPENCES it shows 0.00 all the way down and Under Profit it shows exactly the same thing it shows under Income.
Don't know about you but that tells me the profits out weigh the expenses, Oh and I've never even looked at my taxes. They've never come off of 9%. I have however built one of the monuments, the Fusion Power Plant. But just cause I did wouldn't mean you'd have to. I just figured why not?
Looking at your panel it should be no problem getting DLC industry profits to cover for fishing and generic industry loses and still leave you with more than sufficient profits to fill your needs.
If you compare the numbers in the following screenshot to yours it might bring on some ideas. After all. You payed to buy the DLC, so why not use it?

To be absolutely fair and open, If I let it run at normal game speed the expenses for warehouses momentarily bounces between 0.00 and about 1,300 on a weekly basis.
Sorry for getting back to this so late. Do you remember if you shut them all off or just some of them?
