Can you buy CS DLC from different stores?
Is it possible to buy CS DLCs from different (digital) stores for PC? Does this work? Or is this not supported? I was unable to find this.

Does it matter where you buy the base / main game? Are there differences, limits?

You just missed the Humble Bundle deal. $20 for the whole game, except newest Airports DLC

But isthereanydeal.com has a legit search engine. Buy the Steam Keys for this version of the game. This is the only version to own, because of the integrated workshop with Steam.

The only draw back is refunds, so make sure you don't buy duplicates by mistake. They can't refund as they aren't Steam or Paradox that sell the game directly, and Steam and Paradox can refund more easily.

All Steam games support 3rd party keys. There are no special limitations apart from the aforementioned refund policies and occasional region locks to look out for.

That is incorrect. The deal is ongoing[www.humblebundle.com] and will end on June 15.

Nice, I must have misread it the other day.

These do not answer my questions.

Can you buy any CS DLC (expansion pack, add-on or what they are called) in different (online) stores, will mix them let them work together?
Avoiding those third party sellers and loose product keys, expect the product keys inside DVD cases when brought in a real store.
Like buying base game (with already brought a DLC or without buying a DLC later in Steam) and then the DLC in another (digital) store then Steam.

Sorry, I thought it was already obvious. But yes, any Steam DLC will work with said Steam expansion you purchase.

Same is true for Xbox, PS4, Epic games, Microsoft Store, or any other platform.

So no, you can't have the Steam base game, and buy an Epic Games DLC, as these are different platforms specific.

General online stores can sell you the Expansion for any platform: Steam, Epic, MS Store, etc.

You just need to make sure it is for the right platform. Since you own the Steam version of the game, you need to buy the Steam version of DLC, or it won't work.

Hopefully that was clear enough? lol

If not, maybe someone else can explain it better then me.

Thank you, @MarkJohnson. But it was not so obvious for me. I can't find it on Steam or the other store quickly.

Those other replies mentioned something about a deal. I don't ask for that.
When you buy the base game on Steam, you must also buy any DLC on Steam. Otherwise you must buy them again, in that other store. Console and PC don't cross.

Can you tell me the differences and benefits between these stores? Just only PC, will be nice.
MarkJohnson 12 JUN 2022 a las 20:28
isthereanydeal search engine only supports legit sites, Even the devs have said it is safe to buy from them.

But when you buy from them, you need to make sure it is for your platform. So If you have the Steam base game, then you would select Steam platform. You will then be sold a Steam key that you register on the Steam app library page, in the lower right corner that is labeled, "Add New game".

Each store is a different company verified by isthereanydeal. You may need to login and register at the particular store, and they will likely send you the key via email.

Or, just wait until it goes on sale on Steam and buy it directly here. Less confusion for you and more peace of mind.

This is not true in any way with any Steam game.

I looked through my messages so I could edit my post, but I didn't see where I said that. Maybe you should have quoted the whole thing, so I can find it easier. maybe you edited it a little too much? lol

Most stores list what keys they sell, typically under details for the DLC or "Platform" - if it says "Steam key" then it will give you a code that you then add to your Steam account to unlock the DLC on Steam.
Ralf Ferdius 14 JUN 2022 a las 7:36
Thank you, @MarkJohnson. I prefer to buy the game directly via digital store. In this case Steam. You get message when you can buy the game with discount, if you did put the game on your wish list. Something I like too.

It's easier this way for me. They're not many game stores around. I don't want use third party sites / stores, who send the product key via (e-) mail and let me still entering some product key.

Can somebody tell me the differences, pros and cons, benefits between these PC stores?
Is every DLC available? @CO_Avanya

Yes, all the same DLCs are available with both Steam and Epic.

With Steam you get access to the Steam Workshop, where other players share custom buildings, intersections, maps and much more for you to use with your game. The workshop is really the only real difference, otherwise it's just a matter of which store you like the best.
Ralf Ferdius 20 JUN 2022 a las 19:56
Thank you, @CO_Avanya. So players who bought the game through Epic don't have any ways to use mods, saved games, maps and scenarios?
Even created by other players who bought the game though Epic?
Can players who bought their games though Steam and Epic stores play with each others made saved games, maps, scenarios? Is there some way to transfer these data between them?

The Epic version can still be modded, but everything needs to be installed manually in the correct folders, and there are very few assets and mods available outside the Steam Workshop for them to use.

Saves, maps, scenarios, and really any other content created with the game can be shared between the two as long as the required DLCs are present. So if you have a save on Epic that uses for example bike roads from After Dark it can be played with the Steam version as long as After Dark is owned and installed. And the other way too.
