You likely unsubscribed to them. Each file is the name of a mod, but encoded in number form.

Yes, you can delete the whole folder. it will get created and reinstall all workshop items currently subscribed. I just did it recently when it had almost 5,000 folders mostly all empty.

I had a load of empty folders. I deleted the folder and my mods and assets do not show in the game?

Maybe deleting the empty folders wouldn't harm the game. But deleting the whole folder isn't a great idea.

Now I just cannot be bothered sorting it out even though I have a few mods reinstalled on the game. I loaded a save game...None of the mods and assets were there. I then went back to the main menu and unsubscribed to everything. Then I installed mostly everything on Steam.

Complete farce if you ask me.

You probably either unsubscribed to them, or you deleted a different folder. The workshop always checks to make sure you have the required folders in the directly before starting the city. Also, it can take a while to load all folders. so start only steam and wait for it to load each mod. it can take a while depending how many you have.

But deleting the 255710 folder is absolutely harmless.

Me two. They are just placeholder for mods/assets. Deleting them won't affect anything. They will just redownload again automatically when steam launches and checks for workshop items.

This works the same as before, But I can't find it anywhere!
I will not delete it from my file until it can be found.

backup your folder. Or look for the folder named "1121057177" and copy to a safe location.

If it doesn't exist, then it has been taken down from the workshop by the author.
