Can Someone Explain My Electricity Problem in Cities: Skylines?!
So I recently got this game a few days ago, and I failed a few times, so I was playing my 4th city and I came upon this issue. After a while of playing, and being able to work up to getting $20000 a week, I noticed my electricity plummeted. I have no reason why, and I though it might be my lack of resources, so I replace my coal and oil plants with solar and water. I know they don't produce a steady amount of power, but I had plenty and - well you can see. Can someone just help me with this?!

Here's a link to the photo of my city, someone help!

Are those solar panels in the ocean? If they're disconnected from the main grid it will say you're producing enough power but you won't really because that power is not all on the same grid.

I agree, it does look like the power lines to your solar plants are not connected to the rest of the city.

Lol dude connect those solar panels to the grid

Yeah, connect those solar power plants to the grid.

Looks like more power off the screen at bottom. those wind gererators on the water aren't making much electricty. The wind is too slow. Try replacing them with oil/coal plants. Keep them near the highway so they can get oil/ore from highway quickly.

Get rid of all the solar and water plants, use coal/oil till the nuke is unlocked. Green energy in this game is useless. No power from solar at night and wind will die down to less than half speed at times. Both are pointless these days, unless you can keep the wind blowing and never have any nights using mods. Place the coal/oil in your generic industry grid.

There is nothing wrong with green energy.
Solar power will still produce at 70% during the night or you can use mods to increase that.
Wind power is certainly a viable option. Yes it is more weather dependent, it can produce less or it can produce more. That only requires a few more wind turbines to compensate.
These are only small compensations compared to the extra pollution, import costs and extra delivery traffic that the fossil fueled plants will produce.
Personally, I prefer a hydro-electric dam as it is the most cost effective energy and efficient power producer second only to the fusion plant.

When I can, I just plop down a nuclear plant and forget about electricity, which is usually straight away due to having everything unlocked haha.

Well in that case, you'd be better off plopping the Fusion plant.

Hmm... yeah but it's too futuristic, it doesn't fit with my city.

Just to add my two cents, once you connect your power lines to your panels you can get rid of about 90% of the power lines we see in your screenshot due to how electricity has a area of effect of some sort.

That way your buildings get power and you can remove those eye sore :)

You do know that in the settings you can disable weather and the day/night cycle, right?

Yah, I kind've noticed that immediatly and forgot about this :P Thanks everoyne though

Ja, they are not connected to your grid.
Also, you have too many of them. Very costly.

Althou, I get fluctations in my powersupply sometimes too. I don´t know what causes it. So I am thinking a bug or something.
I rely on a combination of solar, wind, coal and oil. All well placed and supplied. Yet there are power dips. Kind of odd.

Why odd? Weather conditions can affect the ouput of both solar and wind turbines.

Ja, but the oil and coal should stabalize it? I usually run a good surplus just incase.
Can oil and coal dip too?
