Simplified underground car park with multiple single parking spots on top of each other
I have parking lot roads and big parking lots. They work well with the parking AI turned on in TM:PE. So no problem here, my Cims are using the available spots in general.

For large blocks of flats I would now like to realise some kind of underground car park but only simplified. The basic idea is to have a straight road from top level down by 9m and simply place 50-ish single parking spots at the end, superimposing each other. Then cover the sides with retaining walls, the entrance with a garage door and the top with either surface network or ploppable asphalt/grass/pavement. That might sound like cheating, but building a real underground car park is not only tedious but almost impossible on anything but completely flat terrain and also requires too much space.

The issue with this is, however, that only one car is parked there. Probably because cars must not interfere with each other. So the first car that parks there seems to be blocking all other spots. Can someone confirm this behaviour/observation? Is it something than can be disabled? Any other idea how such a simplified underground car park could be realised without having to plot the spots side by side? Thanks a lot for your ideas and support.

My observation is just contrary to that - it happens to me multiple times, that more than one car parks on a single parking spot ;-)

Have you seen this asset: https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=871284587 It requires flat land indeed, but works well when placed under the large buildings.

If you will use ploppable parking asset (you can even make one in the asset editor yourself) and put multiple small parkings in a single spot the drivers will happily crash theirs cars into each other. img[i.imgur.com] Here I've used the 1x1 parking (with three parking spots) and Move It! to place them in the same place.

Thanks, I've seen this asset, but not used it, because it still takes 4x4 space and does not even have a ramp. However, I would like to give the impression, at least externally, that there is an underground car park here. Clearly, I could add a ramp myself but then it would take even more space. I don't work on a flat map, and building something big underground that needs to be covered is really PITA.

It just doesn't work for me. I have tried with this
https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1137743794
and this
https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1385628544
individually, but to no avail. In each case I have placed 10 instances on top of each other and waited for more than only 1 car (first asset) or 3 cars (second asset) to park. No luck. And the invisible parking marker that comes with the game, doesn't work at all. I would assume that this can only be used in the asset manager but not be plopped manually with find it.

In your example, though, you have plopped the parking spots not directly on top of each other. If they are plopped at a reasonable distance or angle from each other, then cars will indeed crash into each other. Still, you will not be able to have 50-ish parking spaces in just a single grid cell.

You are, unfortunately, right. The most cars I was able to cram in a slightly more than a single cell was almost 20. I did it by using the 1x1 3-spot parking placed with slight offset in all 4 directions (3 copies per side, 4 sides -> 12 copies of the asset, 36 theoretical spaces). The offset that works is half of a parking space, so in total it is 4 parking spaces wide. Around half of available spaces were operational.

Thanks for your confirmation. Arrrrghhh, this is such a shame the game won't let me do this :(

I have another crazy idea - create a corkscrew parking ;-) Take a narrow road with parking (1 unit wide) and create the spiral down under the ground. Using the road anarchy and fine road tool force the road to be the "ground" variant and you can have a lot of parking spaces (you need a lot of patience to create the corkscrew though). https://imgur.com/a/u3jLrAh I was patient enough to make just two spirals ;-)

@maciek.slon: haha, interesting idea but not really an option. Already one level down is a major PITA in C:S, I don't even like to imagine how this pain increases with further levels down :). And for 50-ish parking spots I would have to dig down a lot.

@WhiteKnight77: thanks, I've seen them and also subscribed a long time ago, but never used them. The footprint is immense, they only work on completely flat terrain (as so mentioned in the description) and in my case create distortions at the road connection. Besides, this is a commercial car park rather than an underground car park under residential blocks and nothing can be placed on top of it. As I said, I'm looking for a solution with minimal footprint, and if I were to use any of these workshop assets, I could just built it myself. But thanks for the suggestions anyway.
