Unable to place University buildings
Hi,

After the recent update and purchasing the P&P DLC I fixed up my mods (using the compatibility report) so I can play my main city again.

However, one weird thing has occurred - I can no longer place University buildings against a university path in a marked university area. The building will snap to a regular road and appears to be placed anywhere in the University areas, but will NOT snap/attach to University paths as before. It just says "Cannot be placed on this road!"

Is anyone else seeing this? Does anyone have any ideas on how to fix this?

Thanks

isnt that how it works in base game?
I think parkify was the mod enabling path placement.
maybe it broke?

Nope, the base game lets you place buildings along "campus paths" in addition to roads.

I have never used Parkify and have always been able stuff on the paths.

However, I just did a test and I am still able to place buildings along the paths in my campus areas, so tophee and yawjen must have a mod or DLC that is causing a conflict. I don't have the new Plazas DLC. Maybe that one is causing the bug? Maybe as a test you could turn off the DLC in the steam properties panel and see if it clears it up.

There may or may not be a fix in the works. As a stop gap you could follow "Intellection's"
suggestion which would not be a bad idea and something I would do in any event until they got it completely fixed. Or you could plop the Hadron Collider and let it deal with your educational needs until they get the update fixed.
Personally I'd do both.

I can confidently assure you that it's not. This is a mod issue 100%.

@ tophee

Great news. Mods are routinely much more likely to be resolved than steam updates or the DLC's. krisofburger's assurance that it's a mod means you'll be back up and running a whole lot sooner.

I've checked on my city and I don't have the same issue. Campus can be placed everywhere... Except on pedestrian roads !

All services buildings including school, high school and university can be placed properly on pedestrian roads but no campus buildings.

I don't know if it's related but perhaps it can help to find what cause this weird behavior.

This was reported earlier: https://steamcommunity.com/app/255710/discussions/0/6406956248958450801/

Just quoting the responses from that thread:

I use the -noworkshop but still can't place campus building on school path, it can be fixed by building it on a normal road first, then change the road to a school path, but it's still annoying.

The last time I tested, I disabled all workshop functions with -noWorkshop and campus buildings worked fine in a new city. I haven't tested in an existing save game as I was waiting on mods to update.

Hi, Thanks for your posts.
I was thinking it was a mod, but I was hoping someone might have an idea what. I have worked out I can work around it - place the asset then put the path alongside it. I also have discovered I can't join subway stations to subway rails.

I'm sure it'll get resolved sooner or later. I'll just have to start another city in the meantime.

Thanks for the input!

I now had the chance to re-subscribe to latest updated mods and was able to load my previously saved city. I also experience the same problem, can't place university buildings to a campus path. If I start a new city with the same set of mods enabled, it will work just fine.

Subway station and track placement seems to be working alright in my game, though.
