Opening canal into lake
Hi, im trying to get a canal to connect to a (self made) lake. I got to the point where lake was mostly filled up, and the canal was closeby. Than i tried to connect the canal to the lake, but i wont. The canal stops with a wall at the end to prevent water from flowing out. Anyone know how to remove the wall on the end and late the water flow into the lake?

The reason in trying to make it work this specific way is because im using ferrys. My plan was to make a lake near the city with a ferry pier. Both sides of the canal are going to be big cities so i wanted to make a connection point near the lake from there they both go to the pier.
I already bought a lot of land, so i have several different districts, all are close to the main river that flows through the map. So after connecting these 2 districts i wanted to connect all through ferrys.

This is a screenshot of my issue, a big wall blocking the water from reaching the lake.

You don't need to use canal, you should use "Extra Land scaping Tools" Mod, and adjust the land, then put a small size of water source for it.

The canal sure got a wall.

The canal is far too high. It's far higher than even the water surface of the lake!
Either raise the lake until the water surface is level with the water surface of the canal when full, or lower the canal system until the water surface of the canal when full is level with the surface level of the lake.
When both lake and canal are level, there will be no 'wall' at the end of the canal ;)

It's matter of personal preference, but I don't use the prefab cannal's, I run two roads parallel to each other the distance I want the width to be and then terraform between them, run it almost up to the lake and then break through. Then if you want delete the roads.
Depending what I'm doing if I want walls I'll add a Quay. When your dealing with water don't be afraid to hit that pause button.

Like Detail just said, remove the canal and use Quay on both side your problem will be gone.

It worked, after lowering the whole canal and pumping more water into the lake i managed to build a canal that didnt spawn with a wall. The downside is that there is a giant bump in my canal, its the point where i placed the last canal part. For some really weird reason the game still sees it as a valid path for ferrys, even though there is no water on the top of the bump...
wouldnt wanna be the ferry driver, because its gonna be a bumpy ride XD.

Im going to try that, see how it looks. One of the reasons i used canals if to get ferry stops on the sides. Ferrystops snap to the side of a canal and make it real easy to place them.
