Do you know how to fix this? I tried:
sudo dpkg --add-architecture i386
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get dist-upgrade
like it was posted on a different thread, but it didn't solve the issue and I couldn't find a solution.
I don't know if this problem has something to do with these commands:
dpkg --print-architecture
amd64
dpkg --print-foreign-architectures
i386
but the 32 bit architecture seems to be active (at least for a beginner like me)
And thanks for your answer!!

Btw I own the game hearts of iron 4 and the paradox launcher there works without a problem
Not sure if this will help but heres a guide to install it on various versions of Linux.

This looks like an issue with your profile's Steam install - mine is in ~/.local/share/Steam, while yours is in ~/.steam (which is old) If you're using your distribution's Steam package, it might be an older version (I'm not an Ubuntu guy, so I can't say for sure.)
Try removing the Steam package, moving that ~/.steam folder somewhere else and then install the package from https://store.steampowered.com/about/
