Cloud saved games vanish due to poor internet connection
Hello.

I have a poor internet connection in my current location.

When I save a game (cloud sync) and quit the game I can see that 'Cities Skylines' remains highlighted in blue as Steam tries to sync my saved game to the cloud.

Eventually the blue highlight disappears but next time I open the game and try to load one of the games I have saved they are totally missing from the list of saved games.

When I check the local game files I can see my saved game and it's showing todays date as the last time the file was changed.

Is there any way I can force a saved game, but not cloud synced, to appear in my saved game list so I can load them again? I am running out of saved games to play as they keep on vanishing each time I play and save them and they fail to sync to Steam cloud!

Many thanks.

That has been a known problem for years, the cloud is unreliable.

Here is an easy trick and convention how you have enjoyment and never lose to much of you cities:

Save it local on your disk
Name each save {cityname} + number

eg. michaelangelo01

next day you play you save the new city to michaelangelo02 and so on.

From some cities I have over 60 saves, I never lost more than 1 save.

Hi I understand what you are saying, however I do play the game on multiple different computers so I want my saved games to be synced.

I do understand the wish but don't use steam cloud.

How about you save the file on your disk and transfer it manually to your google drive and on the other computer you take it from the google drive.

That is much safer than the steam cloud.
I have found a temporary solution which is to copy the saved games I want to play from the Steam userdata folder to where Cities Skylines saves game locally.
