What is the point of electric cars?
What is exactly the point of electric cars, do they reduce or benefit in some sort?
Thanks

They are considered green technology. That is why this DLC is called Green Cities.

Not if you make the electicity with renewable energy. Do you really need someone to point out something so obvious?

Technically, nuclear power is a green, renewable source of power.

Not really the best long-term solution (in the real world), but it is definitely better than coal and the like. Downside is it takes a hell of a lot longer to build than other renewable sources and has a much greater, if still very rare, potential for destructive consequences. Oh, and it technically has a larger carbon footprint than the other sources during construction.

Yes i know they are green but do they actually do any effect in cities skylines besides the noise pollution, not talking about in real life

With breeder reactors and the renewable uranium from seawater it makes our supply of fissible material nigh infinite.

So it actually is.

They have zero noise. The patch for 1.9 changed the way noise is generated. It is no longer road width based, it is vehicle based. A bit more realistic.

Blasphemy! My driveway and street are annoying me with noise right now!!! :steamhappy:

In real life, Electric cars aren't actually better since they just pass the pollution back to power stations. THis is okay if the power source is renewable, but it's usually not.

However in Green Cities it's much easier to have renewable energy, so it works out.

The big thing with electric cars is that it makes switching to all-green energy that much more feasible, as they'd more or less just need to construct new power plants and then shut down the old ones to ease the strain on the system. That said, there are a lot of other costs and confounding variables to take in, so (no pun intended) your milage may vary.

But yeah, the Edison Electric Cars in Cities: Skylines mostly serve to reduce noise and air pollution at the cost of being more expensive, just like every other "green" building in the game.

actually in real life they certainly CAN be way better... It's only ever not because of ♥♥♥♥♥♥ republicans that are owned by dirty energy and think jesus is going to come back and kill anybody anyways so who the ♥♥♥♥ cares....
