Mods that can break population growth?
Hello, I've had issues with population growth that I'd more likely attribute to a dodgy mod rather than the way the city is built.

I've used mod compatibility checker and it's gave me a list of mods, link to it on google, can anyone see any mods there that may possibly break population growth?

Should be working now it was set to restricted. I'm just finding population isn't growing at all, no matter how much industrial or commercial, I had a really big city with only 14,000 population, slamming down loads and loads of residential didn't work either despite them showing as populated.

It sounds like you have overzoned your RCI. If you have yellow, green, and blue that is empty on the map, then that counts towards your demand. Your city is still growing, just at low demand, it builds slow. high demand builds fast.

Try dezoning your empty RCI areas and your demand will come back quickly. Just don't zone so much at once.

Otherwise, post a saved game so we can see what is going on in your city. There are a million little things going on that can be causing issues and several of them happening at once.

To post a saved game. Go to the game's main menu, then content manager, then savegames. Find your city, click share, make sure it is set to public, then copy & Paste the link here.

What about not using zoning but using Rico? Does that break the game?

I don't like to use zoning as the buildings are always messy and disorganized.

RICO works, just stay sensible what you plop,
one sided RICO ... only plopping one kind will unbalance your city

I only zone if I need numbers fast, that island is ploped.

I use plop the growables instead of RICO ... RICO should behave the same when it comes to placing buildings, I'm just not interested in RICOs modify bilduings functionality.

They are the same. But RICO are custom made and can have odd stats that can cause issues and can indeed break the game, so to speak.

Likely because you zone it all at once. If you want a look, then zone the building manually the size you want it. if you want all building 4x4, then zone a 4x4 section only. I usually do it across several blocks, then alternate every 4x4 row. so it is in horizontal stripes. Then when they fill in housing on all strips, then I zone the empty strips in one fell swoop.

This way every building is 4x4, or whatever size you want.

There is also a theme mod to make different building themes if you want.

I just hate RICO as it is so tedious and slow. The building theme mod is a bit tedious, but there are plenty of prebuilt themes on the workshop.

thats why I stick to PTG and avoid RICO assets.

yeah you have to like modeling and the superiour controll plopping gives.
there are some techniques that gelp make it less of a chore.
build yourself a "pallet"... draw a street and place all buildings you might want to use... copy paste from pallet while building.
don't hesitate to reuse nice looking blocks, turn them around or replace the most visible building and it will look like a new block.

edit: to add to vanilla methods: you can set everything to historical so they keep their looks while upgrading and then delete ugly buildings until a nice one spawns.

If you go down the plopping route especially if you start decorating properties you might want to look into mods like no fires or no abandonment to prevent your carefully plopped blocks from changeing.
