Starting out on Riverrun

despite all the DLC maps I still like vanilla maps the best, I am having trouble starting out on Riverrun. Are there any examples I could follow?

If you connect the interchanges you will need to manage the through traffic seeing the path as a shortcut. Like I did with my main city.

I have another city where the interchanges are kept separate. I used the smaller area as industrial property and the southern for the city.
