Citizens got sick....not water/noise pollution.
So I'm a little puzzled.

Got my city to about 17,000. Had 3 cemeteries (1 was full that I overlooked) spaced about with 1 crematorium. A few scattered clinics here and there, 2 eldercare facilities. Really monitor my overall water pollution (no pumps were affected, and my sewage treated was in the green). I was working on phasing out initial dirty industry for cleaner ones (including green some green policies in various districts).

A little bit of noise pollution, but I didn't see any green sick icons with the headphones.

Then my city got sick...struck like wildfire. I watched my average health drop from 70+ down to like 27. My sick citizen climbed from like o to 1,500+ in a few minutes. My pop is going down and I see green sick icons all over. But I can't find anything wrong. Water and noise still look good, but I can't stop the mysterious spread. I plopped 2 hospitals and 2 more clinics, 1 more crematorium...but it isn't stopping the pandemic.

Anyone have ideas (besides the rote 'check water and noise' which still appears to be fine).

I'm seriously baffled.

If your water pollution truly is fine (and by that, I mean at 0%) then I say you have a mod problem. Give us a few screenshots of your water and pollution overlays (that many sick at once doesn't seem like noise pollution to me) though in case you missed something.

The residential info screen should tell you wat's making them sick... Does it not?

I have exactly the same: (5 times already. Capacity of the facilities is 7025 beds, several hospitals and several clinics, 11 childcare, 8 care for seniors.
Pure water consumption 308000m, pumped 823000m
Wastewater production 310,000 m3, capacity 903,000 m3
Everything 100%
I only have industrial zones with DLC Industry (agriculture, trees and some oil off the beaten track)
Wide roads, an amusement park, many smaller parks.
Schools and universities.

Virtually nothing helps.

The first time the problem appeared with 6,000 inhabitants, another 9,000, and now with 17,000-18,000

This is terribly frustrating.

Mam dokładnie to samo :( już 5 raz. Pojemność placówek 7025 łóżek, jest to kilka szpitali i kilkanascie klinik, 11 opieka nad dzieckiem, 8 opieka nad seniorami.
Czysta woda zużycie 308000m, pompowana 823000m
Ścieki produkcja 310000m wydajność 903000m
Wszystko na 100%
Posiadam wyłącznie strefy przemysłowe z DLC Industry (rolnictwo, drzewa i troche ropy na uboczu)
Szerokie drogi, park rozrywki, dużo parków mniejszych.
Szkoły i uniwersytety.

Praktycznie nic nie pomaga.

Za pierwszym razem problem pojawił sięprzy 6000 mieszkańców, kolejnym 9000 a obecnie przy 17000 - 18000

Jest to strasznie frustrujące.

It comes from pollution or lack of medical. If pollution could be water, noise, ground, garbage, air, or deaths.

If it is spreading like wildfire, it is definitely water pollution.

Click on the sick building and hover over stats to see tool tip on why the avatar is up.

If you have a water pump too close to a sewage drain, it can sometimes reverse water flow and pull up poo water and make your city sick.

Health care won't help much as it's too widespread. Find the offending water pump. look in natural resources and see if a tower is placed in an oil reserve and poisoning you cims.

Your water pipes should be turning brown and so should your water pump.

People! can't you read ?? After all, I and the predecessor wrote that everything is 100% good. The water is blue all over town. Sewerage 100%. I have pumps upstream, sewerage downstream. Garbage far from the city .... I have given the data above

Ludzie ! czy Wy nie potraficie czytać ?? Przecież napisałem Ja i poprzednik, że wszystko jest dobre w 100%. Woda jest niebieska na całym mieście. Kanalizacja na 100%. Pompy mam u góry rzeki, kanalizacja na dole rzeki. Śmieci daleko od miasta .... Wyżej Podałem dane

It's not that we can't read, we just don't believe it until we see data in the form of screenshots that actually confirms it (pollution info view). No matter how hard people have insisted water pollution is ok, 99% of these cases have been a rogue water tower that people forgot about. Sickness "spreading like wildfire" is already suspicious enough because only polluted drinking water can do that.

I've had the same type of problem and found out it came from running my water pipes through a river. For some reason this polluted my water supply. Once I changed this, the sickness and death went away.

There is no sickness mechanic n the game, your cims can only die from poisoning.

You have have either water, noise, or ground pollution. Since noise and ground pollution is localized and only spreads a short distance, this leaves only water as you only source of the problem as it can travel great distances.

You water pollution must be 0% if it is even 1% your cims will be sick.

this, most of the time this... and sometimes reversed water flow if you pump more water out of a river than the water source can replenish.

was that stretch of river polluted or was it clean?

Here is how to find out what is making your citizens sick :
  • Pause the game and find a house with the sick icon over it.
  • Look in the detailed information panel for the house.
  • Mouse over the little "sick person" icon
  • A pop-up text will appear, telling you exactly what the cause is.


And I agree, it's probably water pollution.

Usually something like :
  • A water tower picking up polluted groundwater.
  • Ground pump picking up polluted groundwater
  • Sewage making it's way to pumps.
